How could this possibly happen in the United States of America?

I assume I’m not the only one asking this question with increasing frequency – often left asking a plethora of follow-up questions while furiously scratching my head in astonishment and wonder. (That may explain my thinning and fast-receding hairline.)

There are several ways in which people respond to the insanity and unlawfulness (meaning unconstitutional or unbiblical – even if made “legal”) of that which takes place around us. Some just get angry; others, tired of being angry, choose to become numb, apathetic, or fatalistic.  Frequently, we blame others – progressives’ indoctrination, conservatives only conserving the “truths” that they care about, proponents of identity politics.  And then there are those few who are praying and looking for solutions that go beyond cursing the darkness.

Though there are many things which have us scratching our heads, let’s look at three of them found in this week’s Decency Minute (DM) scripts, narrated by Bill Johnson.

In our first Decency Minute, we might not ask how there could be such public disrespect for an elected official, seeing as our nation has often not shown the civility for those we disagree, regardless the Bible’s urging of respect for those in authority and love for our “enemies.” However, we could – and should – ask how such majorities or at least large percentages of antagonistic foreigners could come to target and disrupt a conservative stronghold such as Texas in these United States. Why do we open our borders to those who desire to disrupt, change, and destroy this nation and its constitutional republic? Why do we allow factions of our government to welcome enemies of the state with open arms while turning away persecuted Christians and those who desire to assimilate, those who love America’s freedom and opportunity?

Our second DM script raises a dump truck load of questions – I lose a lot of hair over these. How, in America, can we accept throughout our institutions such an ideology which runs contrary to nature and common sense, particularly considering the harm it wreaks on our young and upon society and culture as a whole? In America, how can parents lose their children to the state when they are doing their God-given and natural duty to protect their offspring physically, emotionally, and spiritually? How can such atrocities take place here, in a land whose blueprint was based on Biblical knowledge and design?

But this DM goes beyond these transgender questions to include many more about Abdul El-Sayed and others like him. When it’s plain that Islamists and socialists have dangerous agendas which are diametrically opposed to our nation’s law of the land – America’s Constitution – how can we allow them to run for office when they cannot uphold the oath they will swear to should they win? In America, how can someone who spoke at the controversial Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) convention earlier this month, “sandwiched between a video montage featuring a firebrand imam declaring that ‘America is going down’ and a speech from another cleric who said members of Congress who voted for an antisemitism bill were ‘guilty of treason,’” even be on November’s ballot for Michigan’s US Senate, when a God-fearing man like Ralph Rebandt was wrongfully taken off the ballot running for governor of Michigan? These lead to questions about Islamic Sharia law, its dangers to our nation and its people, and why so many Americans are ignorant to Islamic plans to take over this country. Pay attention to our website and our emails; we will be sharing more about Sharia and bansharia.com in the days and weeks ahead. It’s vital that you become informed and to educate others on this matter.

I urge you to start with Paul Sperry’s article, A Call to Power: Islamic Leaders See Ballot Box as Path to Paradise.

So many more questions to ask here, but let’s move on to our third DM. Who would have thought that marriage would be looked down upon and/or avoided in America? In relation to this, who would have ever imagined that in America children would be considered a hindrance instead of a blessing? That even in the church people would not be excited to raise up a family or even a large family “in the nurture and admonition of the Lord”? What does this portend for our nation, particularly when compared to the Islamic way of having larger families and diligently training them in the way of Allah?

Asking questions is a good start to making a change in our own and our nation’s trajectory, but it’s only a part of the answer. Two weeks ago, I encouraged our readers to think for themselves; asking questions falls under that category.  Last week, I suggested that we remember – not only what has taken place in America’s history and with her politicians, but more importantly, what God’s Word has to say about the situations we find ourselves in and what He commands us to do. This week I suggest that we put action to our thinking and remembering.

In the face of confusion, evil, or any situation we find ourselves in, we must trust and obey the God of Heaven. While that’s a simple answer it’s not simplistic and it’s rarely easy. What does that look like? It looks like Jesus who was “full of grace and truth.” It looks like Jude verse 3 – “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”

For examples of living this out, we need only look to a little captive girl sharing the power of God with her captor, Naaman’s wife. This list of examples would include Joseph, Elijah, Daniel, three Hebrew young men, the apostles in and out of captivity, those found in the hall of faith in Hebrews 11, and contemporary believers who stand having done all to stand in these evil days. Christianity, serving the one true God, is about living out a life of faith, speaking the truth with others, and sharing the Gospel – all these trusting God regardless of the temporal circumstances. These all showed true love for God and love for their fellow man, friend or foe alike.

I would encourage you to listen to Pat Colbeck as he speaks on this and other topics with Bill Johnson on Finally, A Decent Podcast.

As Goes the University of Texas So Goes the Country

In a recent ESPN appearance at a University of Texas football game, Senator Ted Cruz was surprised to find that the audience which made up his background was decidedly hostile.

In fact, he was loudly booed and some were holding up antagonistic signs during his interview.

It’s hard to understand how that can be in the mythically conservative state of Texas.

At least until we realize just how many recent UT graduates didn’t call Texas, or even the United States, home just a decade ago.

Between phony asylum seekers, international students, and children of parents with work visas seeking to immigrate – like Texas and the whole nation – the University of Texas student body isn’t made up how it used to be.

If true Texans don’t act soon, their days of being a conservative stronghold will soon be over – and the rest of the country won’t be far behind.

Stand for Parental Rights This November

Despite actions taken by the Trump administration, the left continues to groom children with transgender ideology.

In Massachusetts, a high school secretly transitioned 15-year-old Sophie into believing she was a boy.  When Sophie’s parents found out and refused to affirm her transgender identity, the state forcibly took her from her parents, who have been denied contact with their daughter.  Nearly two years later Sophie’s parents are still fighting for custody, while she is housed in a boys’ dormitory.

We can expect even more of this if Democrats gain control.  Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed not only advocates for gender-mutilating surgeries for minors, he espouses the Marxist view that children belong to the state, not to parents – stating that “every child is our child.”

Kids are easy to indoctrinate and that’s why the Left wants them.  You are the only line of defense.

Find a Good Thing

The Institute for Family Studies shares some very concerning data: From 2000 to 2025, there’s been a 47% increase in American bachelors, ages 18 to 39. With that increase comes great economic, social, and spiritual concerns nationally, and devastating emotional hurts for our single men.

Family Research Council’s David Closson, urges: “The most important thing churches can do is recover a robust biblical vision of manhood and marriage and intentionally disciple young men toward holiness, courage, work, self-denial, and readiness for family life. Churches should not idolize marriage, but they should once again speak clearly about it as a normative and deeply good calling for most Christians.”

Arguably, THIS is America’s greatest need.

Prayerfully seek out and disciple a young man, remind him that, “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.”
