Our United States of America has a rich heritage of calling upon the Lord in times of trouble: calls of both national and local prayer, fasting, humility, and brokenness. It’s a privilege to live in a country which has a history of upholding and currently upholds a National Day of Prayer (NDOP). Once again, The American Decency Association will open its building (203 E. Main St. in Fremont, Michigan) for people to humble themselves and seek the Lord with sincere, simple, spontaneous, prayers of brokenness and a congregational song. It’s the first Thursday of May (5/7) at noon.
The urgency of the hour is great, as are our national burdens, yet so many seem oblivious to them as they live their temporal lives, giving little to no thought to the dangers from within and without, including the lukewarm spiritual temperature which best describes our nation as a whole. But praise the Lord, there are still people who have a heart and are burdened for our nation and its people. They know that our God is the only help and hope; He alone can change things.
Of course, there’s a great burden for the lost, including those deceived souls of the Islamic religion which is pushing its way deeper into the government, schools, and our other institutions. There’s great division in our land and a focus on hate rather than love and unity; we call out to our great Healer of nations and people. So much willful blindness, may God bring light and direction for each of us in this land. Join us in praying for God to mightily make Himself known:
“Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence, As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence! For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.” (Isa. 61:1-2, 3) Amen.
