Bad news gets halfway around the world before good news hardly gets off the front porch. Factual or not, it often seems that way, doesn’t it? Perhaps it’s because we stand in passionate opposition to the bad news we’ve heard and we pass it on in near disbelief or a desire to warn or we “fear we’ll explode” if we don’t. Hopefully, none of us pass it on because misery loves company and we’re just looking for someone to join us in complaining or murmuring or speaking evil of others.
There’s no denying that it’s a temptation. When you listen to Bill Johnson narrate this week’s Decency Minutes (DM) or read them below, one might be horrified or disgusted or wonder: “What is God doing? Why is He allowing these things?”
DM #1 deals with the heinous act of killing one’s own children and rightfully associating it with abortion. We hear of atrocities surrounding abortion too often. So often that some become used to it and its horrors hardly make us shudder anymore. Yet, when we hear that the Massachusetts legislature passed a bill which allows a child to be murdered up to the moment of birth, and we learn that there is applause, joy, and demonic laughter, that should shake us to the core. When we realize that Massachusetts is the eleventh state to legalize infanticide – that’s OVER 20% of the United States – it should make us, in the words of Thomas Jefferson, “tremble for [our] country when [we] reflect that God is just.” What sane person can’t help but share these unbelievable happenings?
DM #2 speaks to the foolishness of selling our nation’s land to other countries, particularly to our enemies! These acquisitions are made strategically, next door to military bases and, as our Decency Minute points out, next door to the White House. How is this even legally possible? Why do we willingly put ourselves at such risk? This has been going on for decades, why hasn’t it been stopped? Yes, there are many national troubles that we might speak with others about, but should we stop at the complaining?
DM #3 shows how Americans are being pushed into a surveillance state. Most Americans hold their privacy as precious, even those who are willing to give your and my privacy away. We may not physically tear down these Flock cameras as some have done, but in our heart, we might applaud those who have.
In all these things and in many others, we should “take it to the Lord in prayer.” But we must also realize that there are many other things of praise and of good news that, if we share them, would be of great benefit to ourselves and to others. Of course, there is the greatest news of salvation and God’s sanctifying work being done in our lives and the lives of those around us. There are also numerous blessings that the Lord daily loads us with. (Ps. 68:19) In Philippians we are urged to think on good, beautiful, and true things. (Phil. 4:8) How often does David stand amazed at the creative Hand of God and all of His national blessings and mighty works? You and I have an opportunity to point people to God’s truths which transcend that which we see taking place around us. Are we stopping short, only sharing the “bad” news? Let me share a little story with you:
A man once laid a piece of chocolate candy on a table. Then, picking up an ant, he put it near the delicious bonbon. He was surprised to see it take a single bite and then hurry off to inform the rest of the colony. Soon the little creature returned, followed by a long train of other ants who enjoyed the treat with him. Many Christians who have tasted that the Lord is good can learn a lesson from that little insect. Having found God’s rich supply of grace, they ought to spread the glad tidings to others.
Can we “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him,” (Ps 34:8) and show others where they can find goodness and delight and healing? Shouldn’t we follow Paul’s admonition to “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord” (Col. 3:16)?
Lindsay Clancy Represents Many American Women
In 2023, the gruesome account of Lindsay Clancy and her children made national headlines.
Lindsay had sent her husband on an errand and murdered their three children while he was away, before attempting suicide herself while suffering from postpartum depression.
As the time for her trial finally arrived last week, reactions blanketed social media – some of them more disturbing than the tragic news story itself.
Mothers were supporting Clancy, saying they knew what she felt like when she killed her own children, insisting that no one should judge her. Sometimes they held their own vulnerable children as they filmed videos supporting her.
X user Lizzie Marbach explained: “The answer is simple: over 25% of women did exactly what Lindsay did. They murdered their children, too, in cold blood, just like she did, via abortion.”
There will never be sanity in this country until there is repentance.

A senior CCP intelligence official – who also happens to be a trained sniper – just bought a building a mere 650 from the White House.
Not only does this put the president’s life at risk, it also can be used as a listening post or for other intel operations. In addition, former CIA officer Bryan Wright warned: “But what’s especially alarming are ops that properties like this allow — like hidden drone swarms or shipping container missiles. This kind of property is where the next 9/11 will come from.”
China already owns thousands of acres around U.S. military bases; now they’re in the heart of our nation’s capitol.

Georgia US Representative Clyde warns, “These surveillance devices perform 20 BILLION license plate scans per month, tracking your every move. No warrant. No judge. No accountability.”
And Texas US Representative Keith Self states, “Americans’ Fourth Amendment right to be secure in their privacy does not disappear just because of new technology or artificial intelligence…”
