With Father’s Day being this Sunday, we decided to share our June bulletin insert with you: Fathers, Love Your Duty! We’ve only shared a portion of it, to read the rest simply click the link provided at the end.
It’s well-documented that children suffer when there is no father in the home; boys and girls need both a dad and a mom. The many troubles that plague children without fathers in the home follow them into adulthood, hindering them greatly in many ways, including difficulty in raising their own children, which often becomes a hurt which is passed on to succeeding generations.
What of those homes which have both a father and mother in them? The question I ask is: Are they present and engaged? When I was growing up, the problem most often talked about was “workaholic” fathers; they were part of the family unit but often not home, engaged in work (even at home), hanging with buddies or deeply engrossed in television – having little time for their children and the duty of raising them. This generation’s typical battle is lack of engagement due to increased screen time: video games, chat rooms, streaming shows, social media, etc. These distractions attack Christian and non-Christian families alike.
What of a father’s God-given duty? What of his intentional godly engagement with his children and then his grandchildren? Is taking them to church and living a “good” life before them enough? No! A thousand times NO! As Charles Spurgeon admonished, “Let no Christian parents fall into the delusion that the Sunday School is intended to ease them of their personal duties. The first and most natural condition of things is for Christian parents to train up their own children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
Our period of direct influence and training with them is too short and eternity is too long for us not to be engaged and loving our God-ordained fatherly duties. Our time on earth is too short and eternity too long to not love God with all that we are and to do all we can to pass on the torch of faith – trusting God’s grace to accomplish this tremendous task – building, training, and enabling a new generation of contenders of the faith.
There are many who are diligent in training or educating their children to be successful in sports, academics, or even in social acceptance among great men, but who truly brings up their child in the fear, reverence, and acceptance of God? Too many are lackadaisical on this point. We live in an age of “good enough,” which, sadly, neglects the holiness, power, and worthiness of God. Have we forgotten the holy character of God and the purpose of our created being by His hand? “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Rev. 4:11) Might we successfully ingrain this into our children’s mind and character; may we remind them of this often.
Yes, God is loving, full of grace and mercy, but He is also full of judgment, wrath, and has made clear His expectations. So, as J.C. Ryle urged, “Train up your children well…train well for earth, and train well for heaven; train them for God, for Christ, and for eternity.” God will receive glory from His creation, either through their willing and exuberant life of praise and holiness or through the destruction of those who have made Him their enemy. Let us lovingly encourage and caution both our young and our adult children…

Here is a note of truth that should be attached to every new bundle of joy before delivery to a new father:
“Good morning, Mr. Father!
This bundle of life being placed in your arms is designed to have a full and meaningful life in serving God. Your obligation should you decide to accept it, is to rear up the child in accordance with the instructions found in the Word of God – The Bible. However, should you decide not to accept your obligation, the child will most likely self-destruct.”
For many years we’ve been warned of the fertility decline in America and its devastating effect on our nation and its institutions. Among the host of usual suspects blamed for this “crime” against the West are economic conditions, contraceptive use, housing, or childcare costs.
However, A new study brings an UNUSUAL suspect to the “line up.” The National Bureau of Economic Research attributed 33-52% of the fertility decline among women aged 15-44 to the iPhone. The Bureau noted, “National-survey evidence on time use and sexual behavior is consistent with the iPhone reducing in-person interactions, increasing pornography use, and reducing sexual frequency.”
Practically speaking, staring at your phone instead of enjoying your God-ordained spouse means less sex and fewer children. Don’t forget; God blessed the man and the woman, saying, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth…and have dominion…”
Children are a blessing!
As we celebrate America’s 250th, it’s important to look back and see God’s providential hand throughout our nation’s history.
Before there was an American Revolution, there was a spiritual revolution. The compelling film, A Great Awakening, tells the true story of this revival which laid the groundwork for American independence and the establishment of one nation under God.
Without that spiritual awakening, America as we know it would not exist.
As John Adams said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
This powerful film reminds us that spiritual revival is still the only hope for America.
Invite your family and friends and join us for a free showing of A Great Awakening on Tuesday, June 30 at 1:00 PM at American Decency, 203 E. Main Street in Fremont.
Michigan’s Governor Whitmer was recently caught on a hot mic talking about Michigan voters, stating: “We’re used to people saying ‘no,’ and doing it anyway.” She was at a groundbreaking ceremony in Saline Township for a massive new data center.
The data center was forced upon this farming community against their will. Residents packed meetings in opposition, citing concerns about water and electricity use and the loss of farmland. The Township Board and the Planning Commission agreed and voted against the data center. Citizens had spoken and democracy prevailed. Or did it?
Whitmer and state officials ignored the will of the people and approved the project. The data center sued Saline Township, which couldn’t afford the massive legal fight.
The Left claims democracy is under attack, but they are the ones undermining it. As Whitmer said, when the people say no, they do it anyway.
