In the search for truth America has not only come to odds, but it seems that most are standing on polar opposite cliffs with fewer and fewer falling on to the continuum which is the gulf separating these two points. We could call them “right” and “left” or “conservative” and “liberal,” but the truth is this: Everyone seems bent on doing that which is right in their own eyes, but their “truth” must be measured by the Word of God, for that is the absolute Truth. To find truth, we must begin with the question: What does the Bible say about that?

How odd that even in Christian institutions of higher learning and in some churches there are teachers and students who are willing to twist God’s Word in order to “force” Scripture to align with their desires, preconceived beliefs, or culture’s aspirations. Have they forgotten that this was Satan’s ploy against the first and second Adams? Instead of “keeping” (to guard and hold as precious) the Word as God commands, they choose to corrupt the Word as the devil, the world, and one’s selfish lusts demand. A few of these redefined words and concepts include, but are certainly not limited to: Christian, love, sin, grace, forgiveness, and even the word truth.

In the introduction of Dr. Everett Piper’s book Grow Up!, he tells of a student being offended by the chaplain’s message from 1 Corinthians 13 – “ a brief homily on love – what Saint Paul called the greatest of all virtues.” Dr. Piper was stunned that a student felt victimized, outraged, and complained because he had heard a message on the importance of “sacrificial and self-giving love.”

A small portion of Dr. Piper’s open letter to his “students, their parents, this young man, and his peers, and anyone else who cared to listen” is fitting for all of us to do some self-examination as well as examining our families and churches:

“If you want the chaplain to tell you you’re a victim rather than tell you that you need virtue, this may not be the university you’re looking for. If you want to complain about a sermon that makes you feel less than loving for not showing love, this might be the wrong place.

“If you’re more interested in playing the ‘hater’ card than you are in confessing your own hate; if you want to arrogantly lecture, rather than humbly learn; if you don’t want to feel guilt in your soul when you are guilty of sin; if you want to be enabled rather than confronted, there are many universities across the land that will give you exactly what you want, but this isn’t one of them.

“At this university, we will teach you to be selfless rather than self-centered. We are more interested in you practicing personal forgiveness than political revenge. We want you to model interpersonal reconciliation rather than foment personal conflict. We believe the content of your character is more important than the color of your skin. We don’t believe that you have been victimized every time you feel guilty and we don’t issue ‘trigger warnings’ before altar calls.

“This university is not a ‘safe place,’ but rather, a place to learn: to learn that life isn’t about you, but about others; that the bad feeling you have while listening to a sermon is called guilt; that the way to address it is to repent of everything that’s wrong with you rather than blame others for everything that’s wrong with them. This is a place where you will quickly learn that you need to grow up.” (pgs. xv, xvi)

These same sentiments can, and perhaps should, be applied to our places of worship, our families, and our schools. It wouldn’t hurt us to reflect on Dr. Piper’s words as we look at God’s Word and evaluate the happenings around us.

For example, as we look at our first Decency Minute, we should ask ourselves (and our children) what is socialism? Let’s objectively look at what God’s Word says about its concepts and see how others are defining or redefining it. Let’s look at our history and compare God’s founding of our country to where we are today. What would it take for socialism to come to America or is it, in part, already here? What happens to liberty when socialism takes over a country? The pictures painted in our classrooms, political speeches, and even in some churches regarding these topics are not always truth.

Our second Decency Minute is on the SPLC and the lies they have spewed against Christian groups which hold to different ideologies and values than they do. As the author of this DM states, “Scripture says, nothing is hidden that will not be uncovered. Thankfully, the evil deeds of the SPLC are now being exposed.” Let us remember that the same is true for our own thoughts, actions, and hearts, and that God sees them now.

Of course, we are no strangers to the need for truth when it comes to our elections and the need for guarding their integrity, as our third Decency Minute points out. When people have not been transformed by the grace of God, corruption abounds. When such people are in charge of our elections, we can expect little less than troubles surrounding our system of government and the elections that take place within it. We have a responsibility to bring those who are corrupt to justice, but our only hope is in the Lord.

As I close out this introduction, I just want to remind us that truth transforms. It transforms our hearts, our lives, our families, and our institutions. Due to the sin of this world, it takes time, but as we more strongly cling to Christ and abide by the truth, change happens more quickly and with more permanence.

Can socialism come to America?

Our local high school students are reading the book I Must Betray You; it describes Romania’s oppression due to communism. One reads of listening devices, how people were manipulated to inform on others, standing in a food line three hours for one can of beans that was four years expired, and the list goes on.

My friend asked a student if he thought this could ever happen here; the answer was a quick, “No.”

We must have frequent and truthful conversations with young people, praying with them, and encouraging them with Antony Sutton’s words:

The power system continues only as long as individuals try to get something for nothing. The day when a majority of individuals declares … it wants nothing from the government, declares that it will look after its own welfare and interests, then on that day the power elites are doomed.

The SPLC Exposed!

The SPLC – Southern Poverty Law Center – has claimed the authority to determine supposed racist and extremist groups.  But the SPLC didn’t just target racism.   They also labeled dozens of Christian ministries as hate groups because of their biblical positions.

The SPLC gained so much influence that the media and even law enforcement agencies took their word as gospel truth.  The Biden administration partnered with the SPLC to weaponize the government against conservative groups, such as Moms for Liberty, targeting them as domestic extremists.

However, the SPLC has now been indicted on 11 counts of fraud.  It turns out that the SPLC, rather than opposing racism, actually paid KKK members to stoke racist activities so that the SPLC could raise money from it.

Scripture says, nothing is hidden that will not be uncovered.  Thankfully, the evil deeds of the SPLC are now being exposed.

We need election integrity

On a recent episode of my show, Finally: a Decent Podcast, I interviewed data validation expert Tim Vetter about his concerns with Michigan elections.

When Tim initially requested the Qualified Voter File from his clerk and then requested the same list a few weeks later, the data coming from the state had changed at the state level, which the county clerk could not explain.

Tim says thousands of voters were flipped from “in-person” to “absentee.”  Flipping a voter’s record from “in-person” to “absentee” manipulates the system to expect absentee ballots which could be fraudulently cast.

Then, to top it all off, Gubernatorial Candidate Joselyn Benson instructed county clerks to delete e-poll book data within days of elections, which erases the evidence!

Michigan’s election system is a mess! We have a candidate for governor in charge of counting her own votes and no method to verify the count!
