Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, traditionally a day set aside to show our love for those we have affection for. Love has been the plot for plays and movies; it’s been the cause of wars, heartbreak, inspiration, great feats, and love is the Bible’s theme. Love has been manifested in various forms of sacrifice, most notably shown in John 3:16. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Once we’ve accepted God’s love through His gift of grace through Jesus Christ and His atoning work on the cross, we are compelled, even constrained, to show such abundant love to others. It’s a love that the world cannot understand. Jesus speaks very plainly in Matthew chapter 5:43-46. “Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?”
It’s a love that the world cannot understand and a love we cannot express without the power of the Holy Spirit working in our lives. Neither can we explain it, but such love benefits us. And the opposite is true, for Christian and non-Christian alike: To embrace hatred or indifference of others only hurts ourselves. Again, real love – sacrificial love – benefits ourselves, and when its real it often doesn’t feel sacrificial, at all. Hopefully, the following account will help us to illustrate what I’m talking about:
A storm swept the ocean just off the coast of Scotland. Far out in the black trough of the angry waters a ship had broken in pieces. The lifeboat set out from shore in the face of what seemed almost certain disaster, but it came back with all the ship’s crew except one. To have taken another in would have meant the sinking of the lifeboat, causing all therein to perish. As they came to shore the leader said, “There’s another man! We need volunteers for his rescue. These men are exhausted.”
Among those stepping forward was a fine-looking young Scotchman in the very prime of his life. His white-haired mother came and put her arms around him and said, “Don’t go, John. Years ago, your father perished in a storm at sea. You know that just last year your brother William went to sea and never came back, and I guess he, too, must have gone down. John, you’re the only one left, and if you should perish what would I do? DON’T GO, JOHN; your mother begs you to stay.”
He took her arms from about his neck and said, “Mother, I must go; a man is in peril and I would feel like a coward not to go. God will take care of us.” He placed a kiss on her cheek and sprang into the boat. Every minute the fury of the storm increased. John reached the man he sought to rescue, and started to shore with him. The elements seemed to vie against John and the man he was rescuing! Down into the trough and up over the waves they went again and again! A whole hour went by before finally the dim outline of them was seen beating their way back to shore.
As they came within hailing distance, someone from the shore cried to John, “Have you found the man?” Standing in the bow of the boat John shouted back, “Yes, we’ve saved him, and tell my dear old mother IT’S BROTHER WILLIAM!”
As you read our Decency Minute (DM) scripts below or listen to Bill Johnson narrate them by clicking on their titles, consider the sacrificial love which we are called by Jesus to show. Pray for the strength to love your enemy; ask God to show you the dangers of hatred and the benefits of love within the situations you might find yourself in. The world is full of hatred and strife; we are to bring love and peace, if possible. It’s the love and peace of Christ dwelling in us that we are to share. I would remind you of Corrie Ten Boom’s declaration: “Love is the heart of the gospel.”
DM 1: It’s sacrificial love that will cause us to, like Jonah going to Nineveh, share the love and gospel of Jesus Christ to those whose beliefs are diametrically opposed to ours and, who some among their number, have declared us an enemy. May we be obedient to the constraining love of Christ anyway.
DM 2: We are called to love the unborn baby, the mother who has or has not aborted her child, and those who are leading women astray from the truth. It’s certainly sacrificial love to bring a child into this world and nurture them appropriately; might we come alongside these young women with truth and assistance, being the “hands,” “feet,” and “voice” of Jesus.
DM 3: Any time racism is involved, love becomes tougher to express than we think possible. When we see the damage and destruction that hatred does – think of the BLM movement and the carnage left in their wake – let us choose love and compassion and speak truth into our times. Although it’s often rejected in the face of such vengeful hatred, we will have done our duty as followers of Christ and may some be saved by our efforts. God alone brings the increase, changes hearts, and transforms societies; our responsibility is simple, humble obedience.
During a recent Rubin Report, a video clip was shown of an Islamic imam speaking to a congregation with great pride about global Islamic expansion and infiltration. He also proclaimed that Zohran Mamdani is part of a larger planned takeover of western societies by Islamic leaders and these growing Muslim populations.
In addressing the Islamic population of the U.S., this imam said that their “greatest weakness is our percentage in this country. We are very disadvantaged in this country. By the way, it’s only in this country.”
He continued to share Islamic population percentages: Sweden – 10 percent Muslim; Oslo, Norway – 10 percent; Vienna 10 percent; London, England – estimated 20 percent.
When Islamic leaders tell us they’re planning to take over our nation, we’d better believe it and act.
Governmentally, the Constitution must be upheld and, spiritually, we must share the gospel.
Deprogramming Feminist Ideology
A recent viral video showed a young woman overcome with emotion as she held a baby for the first time in her life. As tears poured down her face, she exclaimed, “I need one!”
As one commentator said, “holding a baby deprogrammed 20 years of feminist propaganda.”
Many young women buy the feminist lie that children are a hindrance to happiness.
Yet nothing can erase the God-given instinct in women to nurture and care for others.
However, when that instinct isn’t rightly directed, it can be misdirected toward radical social justice causes. Which is why we see that so many leftist protestors are young women caught in this ideological snare. Their protective instincts are now channeled toward fighting to protect criminal illegal aliens, or the latest progressive cause.
Countless young women are seeking fulfillment that they’ll never find in feminist ideology. Pray they’ll find the truth.
Its Time We Recognize Anti-White Racism
A few months ago, an appointee by New York City’s leftist mayor Mamdani came under fire for her assertion that white homeownership is a weapon of white supremacy.
Now another aide to the mayor is in the news for insisting that she doesn’t “need to follow white standards of politeness.”
On the south side of the nation meanwhile, a Democrat Texas state representative, Gene Wu, said this, “It’s not just Latinos. It’s not just Asians. It’s not just African Americans. It’s everybody… their oppressors are all the same.”
He continued, “we (meaning minorities) are the majority in this country now. We have the ability to take over this country…”
Speaking of any other race in this way would make anyone recoil in horror.
It’s time we recognize and denounce this evil attitude for what it is: anti-white racism.
