Out on the rolling grasslands of the Serengeti, there were two lionesses hunting for food. Suddenly they stopped to focus upon a grazing gazelle in the distance. As one lioness circled around, approaching this unmindful gazelle from the back, the other lioness made itself aware to the gazelle, simply keeping its attention and not making itself to seem a serious threat. When the gazelle finally discovered the enemy behind it, he turned to flee, but it was too late. It had nowhere to go but into the gaping, powerful jaws of the lioness. They ate well by means of their deception and subterfuge.
This week’s Decency Minutes deal with such dangers brought to our doorsteps, either personally or nationally. Each presents the enemy at varying degrees of the attack, but the goal is the same: Destruction. The object of destruction may be different – that of a person, a community, or a nation – but it is destruction, nonetheless.
Our first Decency Minute (DM) focuses on the threat which comes from Muslims committed to Sharia Law. While using a veneer of religion to hide behind the protection of the First Amendment, they’ve advanced their anti-Constitutional culture and have deceptively infiltrated our political system to advance their agenda at many levels. They’ve used this religious patina to also infiltrate many churches with their anti-Christian ways under the deception of 1) false statements claiming we serve the same God and Jesus and 2) in presenting a one-way bridge which is extended to Christian congregations to cross, but which no Muslim is allowed to cross.
Our second DM deals with the spiritual deception which Satan brings to all individuals, particularly to Christians. If the devil can deceive us into looking at the forces of evil which surround us instead of looking unto Jesus (always), the Author and Finisher of our faith, one can easily find themselves in despair, depression, and despondency. We may focus on violence and forget that Jesus is the ever-present Prince of Peace; we might see hatred from so many sectors that we forget that God IS love and ever-present. Remove yourself from the devil’s powerful jaws by focusing on and living out this Truth: Joy to the world, the Lord has come; let earth receive her King!
Deceptions abound and are shown within our third DM; pay close attention to it. While we are wisely reminded that just because you live here doesn’t mean you are an American, let us also remember what President Teddy Roosevelt proclaimed: “There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism…German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans. There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.” In this same vein, there is no room for identity politics; it’s a deceptive practice meant to divide instead of unite. Let us never forget that a house divided against itself cannot stand.
Lest anyone would take this organization or Teddy Roosevelt to task, misunderstanding us to be bigots or hateful, in the same speech the president said: “Any discrimination against aliens is a wrong, for it tends to put the immigrant at a disadvantage and to cause him to feel bitterness and resentment during the very years when he should be preparing himself for American citizenship. If an immigrant is not fit to become a citizen, he should not be allowed to come here. If he is fit, he should be given all the rights to earn his own livelihood, and to better himself, that any man can have.” Our third DM shows that this statement doesn’t fit those who have come here to feed off from America instead of feeding into her. It’s not fitting for those who have come to destroy America instead of supporting her.
As you listen to our Decency Minutes, read their scripts, or think of the personal troubles that have come your way, don’t despair; pray! Remember Longfellow’s line which has so timely been rewritten here: “God is not dead, nor doth He sleep.” It is because of this that we can live a life focused on Christ that gives: “Peace on earth, good will to men.”
When masses of Muslims gather in Mamdani’s Times Square to proclaim the exclusivity and intolerance of Islam, when they angrily declare: “We’re done hiding; we’re done being tortured and hurt and judged…We will not stop until Islam enters EVERY home.” We’d better believe them.
We’d better believe people like Frank Gaffney, too, who’ve declared for years that Islam is a dangerous culture, covered by only a thin veneer of religion.
Texas Representative, Keith Self, rightly warns: “Western values form the basis for the Founding of America, namely that rights come from our Creator; ours is a Christian-based culture. Sharia, on the other hand, is a culture of violence and domination, totally anathema to the concept of individual freedom. Either we defeat the Sharia advances in America, or government of the people, by the people, for the people may indeed perish from the earth.”
God is Not Dead, Nor Doth He Sleep
It’s the time of year when neighborhoods are ablaze with Christmas lights. Each strand a reminder that the Light of the World has come!
Yet in a world darkened by sin, the turmoil around us can seem overwhelming. Political turmoil and violence, division among families, sorrow and hardships.
Perhaps you can relate to the words of Longfellow:
And in despair I bowed my head; “There is no peace on earth,” I said; “For hate is strong, And mocks the song Of peace on earth, good-will to men!”
But the poem doesn’t end there:
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep: “God is not dead, nor doth He sleep.”
Don’t let the strife around us cause you to despair. Look to Jesus – Immanuel – who came to dispel darkness, conquer sin and death, and is reigning on the throne. He is our Savior, Helper, and Friend.
Recently, federal investigations have exposed massive welfare fraud among Minnesota’s swelling Somali population, amounting to over $1 billion in taxpayer funds in just the past 5 years. The schemes targeted a child nutrition nonprofit that billed for 18 million nonexistent meals, yielding $250 million.
$61 million went for fake Medicaid claims to assist non-existent people, while an autism program lost $14 million through fake diagnoses.
What’s even more troubling is what the stolen money was used for. It wasn’t just scammed to make Somali refugees rich. Millions of tax payer dollars intended to help suffering Americans were instead funneled to Al-Shabaab terrorists in Somalia!
In reaction, President Trump decried the Somali community in Minnesota as a “hub of fraudulent money laundering,” ended Temporary Protected Status for several thousand Somalis and deployed ICE “strike teams” for deportations.
Coming to America doesn’t make people Americans.
