Days of Infamy

By: Steve Huston

Yesterday, December 7th, 1941, a date which will live in infamy, the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by the naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.” So begins President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s famous “Day of Infamy speech,” given the day after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, a day which too many Americans know little to nothing of and therefore do not recognize how swiftly and severely things can change. I would encourage you to listen to the whole of this famous speech, pay particular attention to Roosevelt’s indignation at Japan’s blatant deception prior to its attack on American soil. Remember the great number of souls that stepped into eternity that day and those who stepped into eternity due to America’s response, four years later, with the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Jump forward 81 years, that’s today. The potential for another “day of infamy” is a very real and present danger. Indeed, some call it imminent.

The Epoch times, reporting on an annual report by the Pentagon, states that the Chinese Communist Party is “developing its military to win a war against the United States by overwhelming its electronic, information, and logistical systems.” To this end, it’s “expanding its global military presence and adopting technologies and doctrines aimed at preventing the United States from intervening in any wars that it starts.

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) “has 2.2 million active-duty military service members and 660,000 paramilitary personnel, as well as 340 ships and submarines and more than 2,800 aircraft.

Regardless of kinetic strength, “the CCP is developing the PLA to engage heavily in domains not traditionally associated with combat, including electronic, information, and psychological warfare.

The danger of the dragon looms as it spreads its wings wide while the eagle seemingly plucks its own majestic plumage, making it more of a prey than a ready-armed, well-prepared predator.

Frank Gaffney, ever-ready truth-teller and patriot, correctly identifies the trouble as he compares the threat of the dragon to that attack which took place 81 years ago: “The Biden administration is doing everything it can to invite the CCP’s aggression. A Commander-in-Chief deeply compromised by our enemy has weakened and divided our country from the border to Washington, D.C. He’s demoralized, distracted and defanged our military. And he has basically done nothing to defend Taiwan.

This is no drill. Will we swiftly act to make the costs of the next “surprise” attack intolerably high to the Chinese Communists, or needlessly suffer them ourselves?

While the dragon prepares to make the world its lair, what is the eagle doing? Christian, pray for wisdom in Washington, but put your trust solely upon the Lord!

I dare not close this alert without warning you, dear Reader, of another “day of infamy” which is more certain than that of China. The Bible warns us that there will come a day when Christ will judge the quick (living) and the dead. We will all stand before the throne of God to give account of what we have done in the flesh. The first and most important question is, what have you done with Christ? Those who are not in Christ will suffer eternally while those whom Jesus has saved will rejoice and glorify God from everlasting to everlasting. Prepare for this imminent “day of infamy” while you still can by putting your trust in He who died to save you from your sin.

As we near the Christmas season we recognize that Jesus was born to die that we might live. Have you taken advantage of the gracious offer of God through the atoning work of Christ on the cross? Are you fully living to your spiritual potential in Christ? According to Paul’s words in Titus 2:11-15, God’s grace has been brought to this world through salvation in Jesus. It further shows us how not to and how to live. If we’ve been redeemed by Christ’s blood, we are to unashamedly share this truth with others, regardless of their response to us.

I urge you to consider the condition of your soul and be ready for this final and eternal “day of infamy.”

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.” (Titus 2:11-15)
