“Cougarâ€Â – one of the most recent vulgar terms of our cultural lexicon that is becoming so very commonplace. And as the term has gained widespread use, it’s a troubling indication of the further moral degradation of society when what the term defines is also increasingly becoming mainstream. “Cougarâ€Â is the coined term for forty+ women who pursue younger men for sex. An online definition of the term from www.about.com states it this way: “… Typically, cougars prey upon men almost young enough to be their sons. … Some cougars are less interested in a relationship than a sexual conquest, perhaps enjoying the fact that they are physically appealing to men who are considered to be in the prime of their virility. A cougar may be married or unmarried, and some even go after their daughters' boyfriends. …â€Â References to such women are showing up all over television and movies. On television there is the revolting ABC show “Cougar Townâ€Â, featuring Courtney Cox as a forty-something woman on the prowl for meaningless sex with men not much older than her teenage son. Not to be outdone, CBS has its own “Accidentally on Purposeâ€Â with an older women getting pregnant after a one-night stand with a 22 year-old guy. In a fulfillment of the adage “life imitates artâ€Â, it seems real life is imitating “reelâ€Â life if the examples below are any indication. In New Zealand, airline Air New Zealand has been using an offensive advertising campaign geared toward “cougarsâ€Â. MSNBC reports: “… An online spoof documentary by Air New Zealand, promoting a competition for free tickets to a rugby tournament, tells of a so-called cougar starving herself during the day then "hunting large slabs of meat at night" by stalking young men at a bar. The voiceover says despite men's attempts to ward off the woman's advances, the cougar has "not tasted fresh meat for days" and drags her victims to her inner-city apartment … . The promotion by the airline's Grabaseat discount airfare site encouraged women aged 35 plus to send in photographs of themselves to compete for tickets … .â€Â http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34923062/ns/travel-news/ And then there is the following article, “Royal Caribbean says yes to sexually-charged cougar cruiseâ€Â, from USA Today. ************* Is Royal Caribbean the new bad boy of the cruise industry? The world's second largest cruise line says it will pick up where industry leader Carnival left off in hosting a "cougar cruise" organized by California-based Singles Travel Company. The Second International Cougar Cruise, as it's being called, will take place May 16-23 on Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas.  Carnival hosted what was billed as the world’s first cougar cruise last month on the 2,056-passenger Carnival Elation — a three-night romp that drew international headlines — but said last week it has decided to ban the concept for the future, despite what is reportedly huge demand for the voyages. The controversial escapade, which took place Dec. 4-7, was aimed at older woman who pursue younger men — or "cougars," in contemporary lingo. The new cougar cruise on the 3,114-passenger Mariner will be a longer, seven-night voyage from Los Angeles to Mexico with stops in Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. Like Carnival, Royal Caribbean only is hosting the event, not marketing or organizing it. The trip is the brainchild of the Singles Travel Company, which has blocked group space on the ship. The company is selling cabins starting at $399 per person, based on double occupancy, not including taxes and fees. "We have no reason to deny this group the opportunity to sail on our ship," Royal Caribbean spokeswoman Cynthia Martinez tells USA TODAY. "We assume this group will follow our guest conduct policy, just like any other guest. We have no reason to think otherwise." Carnival's De la Cruz didn't say why Carnival had banned future cougar cruises. The International Cougar Cruise's organizers have said the first voyage was a smash sell-out with a lengthy waiting list of people wanting to get on board. Details of what occurred on board are scanty. Singles Travel Company had promised three days of singles meet-ups, dancing and "partying" inspired by Valerie Gibson's 2001 book /Cougar: A Guide for Older Women Dating Younger Men — /a pitch that was filled with innuendo. As the firm had noted in a press release, a cougar "knows exactly what she wants … (and) what she doesn't want is children, cohabitation or commitment." Organizers had noted 2009 was "the year of the cougar," according to a recent story in /Newsweek. /The term has gone ever more mainstream with TV shows like Courteney Cox's recently launched /Cougar Town/ on ABC and the /Bachelor/-like reality dating show /The Cougar/. <http://www.usatoday.com/travel/cruises/item.aspx?type=blog&ak=14737.blog> ******************** The travel company hosting these repulsively-themed cruises gives this description of the women flocking to take part in the debauchery: a cougar "knows exactly what she wants … (and) what she doesn't want is children, cohabitation or commitment." God’s Word has this description: “And I find something more bitter than death: the woman whose heart is snares and nets, and whose hands are fetters. He who pleases God escapes her, but the sinner is taken by her.â€Â Ecclesiastes 7:26 Take action!
