Do your part to make voting trusted again

Contact your Michigan state senator; explain the importance of HB 4765 in promoting election integrity, keeping Michigan decisions in the hands of eligible voters.

How would you like your neighbors to have a say in what you can or cannot do in your own home? What if someone from outside your neighborhood could come into your house and dictate what is appropriate behavior in the house you have paid for and do the upkeep on? Would you want another coming in and deciding what morals and religious ways you are to raise your family by?

Sounds crazy, right? Well, in a sense, that’s what is happening when we (or those who we have hired by our vote to protect us) allow non-citizens to vote in our state and national elections. Yes, it’s about election integrity, but more than that – we need to remember that elections have consequences – consequences that affect OUR homes, OUR school systems, OUR children, OUR freedoms, OUR churches, and EVERY area of OUR lives. It’s personal and we should desire to speak into it! What happens in the voting booth DOES NOT STAY in the voting booth; it infiltrates OUR very way of life.

 What can WE do?

If we are concerned about election integrity and our own freedom as well as that of our children, it is VITAL that WE VOTE and that we do ALL in our power to keep our elections open ONLY to those who are eligible to vote. WE MUST STAND and WE MUST VOTE.

One part of standing is to contact our elected officials, sharing our concerns, praying for them, and urging them to vote rightly and constitutionally, particularly on issues over which we have great concern. Michigan Rep. Joshua Schriver is urging voters to do just that: “Voters in Michigan have a right to know that only United States citizens are deciding state and local issues. HB 4765 closes loopholes in the current system and prevents problems before they start. It treats eligible citizens fairly while drawing a clear line against ineligible registrations.” To read HB 4765 as passed by the Michigan House click here.

From Pure Integrity Michigan Elections (PIME) regarding HB 4765: “We have been presented with an opportunity to close the issue of potential non-citizens being added to Michigan’s voter rolls. HB 4765 would require our Secretary of State to verify the citizenship status of all incoming registrants before adding them to the voter rolls.

“This change would encompass Michigan’s entire automatic registration apparatus, requiring documented proof of citizenship throughout the entire state prior to registration, whether through the DMV or any other state agency. This bill would merely enforce what is already law, but it would do so comprehensively.”

Now that HR 4765 has passed the Michigan House (April 14, 2026), it’s vital that we urge those in the Michigan Senate to pass it as well.

PIME also writes: “HB 4765 is a well-written bill that puts the responsibility to verify registrants on Michigan’s Secretary of State using any available proof of citizenship on hand, from REAL ID, to a birth certificate, to a passport, naturalization papers, or approved tribal records. Being state legislation, there are affordances in place to allow registrants to vote (in federal elections) when their citizenship cannot be immediately verified with documents on hand or by state databases. The bill has been thoughtfully crafted with several mechanisms to avoid creating difficulties for legitimate voters while improving the robustness of Michigan’s voter rolls.

“If HB 4765 passes, Michiganders will be sure that only eligible citizens are being qualified to vote. The bill also requires public monthly reporting on the number of registrations added.”

We are urging you to STAND now by contacting your Michigan state senator – explaining the importance of HB 4765 in promoting election integrity, keeping Michigan decisions in the hands of eligible voters. Then we urge you to VOTE, letting your voice be heard, in upcoming and future elections.

 Perhaps your senator or their staff might say, “Such things don’t happen in Michigan. If they do, it’s infrequent and not enough to sway an election,” for that’s what we are often told by those who are complicit in helping illegal and ineligible voters to vote or by those who regurgitate what they’ve been told. Politely inform them that one illegal vote is too many; it’s a matter of election integrity, constitutional clarity, and “for want of a nail a kingdom was lost.” Explain that non-citizens have voted in Michigan elections and we don’t desire to see that happen again. Help them understand that this bill is a safe way to improve citizens’ trust in Michigan’s elections in a day when many are not voting for lack of trust.
