When the Grid Is Gone

Long before I started, or even thought of, working for the American Decency Association, I attended an event that educated and warned of the possibilities and dangers of something I had never even heard of before that night: Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP). For those who may not be familiar with this term, here is a basic working definition: “An EMP, or electromagnetic pulse, is a brief burst of electromagnetic energy that can disrupt or damage electronic devices and systems. It can be caused by natural events like lightning or by man-made sources such as nuclear explosions.” (Wikipedia) These are of special concern seeing that our already fragile electric grid is compromised by hostile foreign entities. The U.S. must take corrective measures sooner than later.

Although this is a very real and constant threat, its interest among concerned citizens seems to wax and wane. Likely, this is due to the ever revolving and ramping of news stories which grab our attention and seemingly move on in the next day or so. Yet, it is imperative that we keep this especially concerning news in sight, in mind, and do all that we can to rectify America’s “current” position – IT IS A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH!

One of these hostile foreign entities I referred to is China. Before getting into some of the problems with our electric grid, let’s set the stage by recognizing the very real and present dangers that China holds for us. These things are in no way meant to scare or alarm our readers, but meant to inform so that we might be able to better prepare and take actions on both national and individual fronts.

Brigadier General Douglas P. Wickert warns of a potential “Pearl Harbor” style attack from China. (The first 35 minutes of this briefing is directly reporting on China’s current status and activities; the remainder of the presentation is Q&A, also very helpful.) In total, this presentation is only about 1¼ hours long and is full of modern-day warnings and amazing/interesting historical facts, including details about Taiwan, the growth of China’s military, how China is overcoming obstacles regarding Taiwan, the unclassified intelligence prediction for 2027, how China has infiltrated our electrical grids, and much, much more. I would urge you to watch this briefing and share its warnings with your friends.

If one listens to the Q&A, please keep in mind that, although these are good questions and answers, the answers are given by a military general who is obligated to direct people in a certain direction. We must take what he says with an initiative to think for ourselves, ask further related questions, and build upon what he suggests.

The general made it very clear that there is a massive difference between Chairman XI/ CCP/ Chinese government and the peoples of China. “We have no disagreement with the people of China. They are actually probably suffering just as much under authoritarian dictatorship as we will if Chairman Xi decides now’s the time for China to emerge as the sole dominant super power of the world. And, ‘Oh, by the way, I got the army to do it if I want to.’” Please be in prayer for the citizens of China and, when speaking of what the Chinese government is doing, please remember the vast difference between these people and their government.

Not only is the People’s Republic of China and the CCP modernizing and increasing the size of the People’s Liberation Army at a staggering rate, they aren’t even trying to hide what they’re doing. China’s major air force base (very similar to our Edwards Air Force Base) is located in the Gobi Desert and they’re actively preparing for something. Near their base they have a 1:1 scale model of Taiwan’s Taichung International Airport. Deeper into the Gobi Desert they have 1:1 scale model targets of U.S. Navy 4-Class Aircraft Carriers, frigates (warships), and a Destroyer. It’s not just the various naval targets that are alarming; there are also railroad tracks that represent evasive maneuvers the ships would take as the ballistic missiles are coming in from above. “So, they have a range that actively targets our ability to project power into the Pacific.” As the general states several times in his presentation: “It’s pretty clear what China’s intent is.”

Let’s look at the growth of Chairman Xi’s military:

* Increased Air Force and hypersonic missiles at a staggering rate.

* China has dozens of state-owned shipyards; we have four – they have 230 times our production capacity.

* In 2024 alone, just one Chinese shipyard built more tonnage of ships than the US did since the end of WWII.

* China is now a technological military force. In January of this year, they commissioned a stealth-frigate designed for anti-submarine warfare; they have the capacity to build a lot of these.

Though much of this briefing dealt with Taiwan, don’t be fooled; what affects Taiwan doesn’t ONLY affect Taiwan:

“Ninety-five percent of the advanced microchips are built in Taiwanese fabs…we’re in the process of trying to build some fabs here; we don’t have them…We’re denying the export controls on advanced microchips to China. Do you think Chairman Xi would have any qualms, whatsoever, if they took over Taiwan, of denying access to those microchips, now that they are writing the rules to the US?” ~ Brig. Gen. Wickert

There is Chinese malware in all of our infrastructure systems: water, communications, electrical, oil, air traffic control, etc. – all of our SCADA systems. “We know they’re there; we can’t actually get them out.”

We know that China has infiltrated our electrical grids, including the installation of kill switches. Brig. General Wickert warns: “There is Chinese malware on all the SCADA systems that control electric power communications. The first indication that the invasion of Taiwan has started is probably the lights will go out and that the cellular phone network doesn’t work anymore…there’s a way of attacking us without actually attacking us.” The general continues with describing the many attacks and hacking of our communications and other aspects of our infrastructures.

Each of us, unintentionally, take a number of things for granted each day. For most, electricity is near the top of that list. If America’s electrical grid were taken out by an enemy, we all would be plunged into 16^th century life immediately – not just for a moment or for days, but for years. Here is how Sam Faddis, former Career Clandestine Service Officer, Central Intelligence Agency, describes America after America is attacked by an EMP – the whole of this article deserves to be read:

“Without electrical power, this country would be back in the 16th century in a heartbeat. Take a moment. Conduct a thought experiment. Imagine you are sitting at your computer in your home, and suddenly, the power goes out.

“Then imagine it is not coming back on.

“You have no lights. You have no water. The food in your freezer and your fridge will soon begin to rot. You have no email. You have no cellular phone. You cannot place an online order.

“You cannot call 911.

“You have what gas is in your vehicle’s tank. No one is going to pump more without electricity. It doesn’t matter really. Other than the cash in your wallet, you have no money. Your bank account effectively no longer exists. You have no means of accessing it anyway.

“You are living in the past, but you are much worse off than those who lived in those times. You can’t walk to the store, which is miles away. The food there is rotting in any event. You don’t have a well from which you can draw water by hand. You don’t grow your own food. Your whole life is structured around the availability of electricity, and now that is gone.

“And, no one knows how long it will take to get the power back up and running. We are not talking days, weeks, or months. We are talking years.”

This is not describing some apocalyptic novel; this is the potential reality under our current electrical grid conditions. Sam Faddis reiterates: “The Chinese have positioned themselves to attack our grid and make this…a reality.”

America must begin to strengthen its grid to be completely invulnerable to Chinese, and others’ attacks, TODAY!

Frank Gaffney hosted a webinar through Present Danger China that addresses this issue in depth. One of the troublesome areas for the U.S. is the push to shut down our coal mines and embrace “green” energy like solar panels and wind farms. This resource is also a must watch!

In dismantling our supply lines in lieu of solar panels and wind farms, it is not a matter of self-sustaining; it’s a matter of self-sabotaging. In hopes of lining their pockets by aligning themselves with governmental subsidies, the people who depend on these forms of energies will need “lined” pants, shirts, socks, and shoes!

There is much to learn from this webinar, including but not limited to: batteries, how EMPs will affect our nation, the deplorable position we are in for building more coal mines, protecting ourselves, addressing other needs, and much more.

Eighty percent of what China is building for energy are coal plants; they are building 400 of them. They’re making batteries, etc. for the rest of us, they know that isn’t going to work for them.

What are some steps we should take?

First and foremost, be right with God! In the course of some war or EMP event, our heart and mind will be where it is most often found now: Either stayed on God or stayed on this world and its things. Our time here is short and eternity is long – be spiritually prepared.

Second, be diligent in seeking out information and having conversations with others regarding these and other issues which surround us today. Don’t believe everything you hear from mainstream media, the government, or your friends; search out the truth and remember that the Word of God is the source of all truth. Compare what you learn with what God says about various topics.

Third, have real, polite, and respectful conversations with your representatives and senators about these things. Ask them what they are doing to protect the citizens who put them in office. Share some of your information. Email them links with a short summary of what they should expect to see or hear.

Finally, start making local connections as you have these conversations. The technology-age we live in seems to have made us less social (personally, face to face); build deeper relationships with neighbors, church members, and make these attempts transgenerational.
