Join us for the National Day of Prayer THIS Thursday

By: Steve Huston

What: National Day of Prayer

When: THIS Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Noon

Where: American Decency building (203 E. Main St., Fremont, MI)

WHY: Because we desperately need a move of God upon our nation and its people

One theme that runs throughout the Bible is the command for God’s people to be in prayer, as well as pointing out our desperate need to pray and wait upon the Lord.

“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation…” (Matthew 26:41)

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray…” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

“Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

The National Day of Prayer is more than an opportunity to join with others in prayer. Yes, it is that, but it’s also a reminder that: “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1) In other words, we enjoin our hearts and minds together, in prayer, recognizing that our only help and our only hope is in our God! In the last verse of this psalm, David – in the midst of his enemies – calls us to “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” (27:14)

We urge you to join with us in prayer on behalf of our nation and offering praise to our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our theme will be one of Thanksgiving for God’s Amazing Grace, which He poured upon our
beleaguered America. Recognizing our great national need, we will also be praying for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the people of this nation, bringing repentance and spiritual renewal. For without repentance and spiritual renewal, it will not matter what reforms, executive orders, or governmental changes take place. Although we are grateful for this administration’s rollback of the negative spin of government upon Christ and Christianity, we’re very well aware, from the previous administration’s actions, that power can change hands quickly. It’s by God’s grace that changed hearts and transformed lives can remain stable in Jesus; that’ll have more lasting of an impact than any administrative action. So, please join us in calling upon our God.

We have a few changes in mind for this year’s annual gathering.  We’ll begin by praying together inside and then give an opportunity to either stay inside and pray with others or go outside and pray silently or with a group in front of the American Decency Association. It would bless us and others if you’d join us in crying out to God on behalf of our government, our churches, our families, and our desperate need for a move of God upon our homes, state, and nation.

We have great needs, but we have an even greater God! Let us praise Him and glorify His name. Prepare your hearts and join us at American Decency (203 E Main St., Fremont) THIS Thursday (May 1) at noon.
