It’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming – Resurrection Sunday! Is there any day of the year more joyous for the believer? Is there any greater joy than to be justified in the eyes of our most holy God, thereby giving us the opportunity to glorify Him in greater measure?
To shout with the psalmist, “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile” (Psalm 32:1-2) is to proclaim, “Hallelujah! I’m redeemed!”
To have the experiential knowledge shared by the Apostle Paul that the resurrection of Jesus means our justification (Romans 4:25) and that our being justified is to be at peace with God (Romans 5:1) is to humbly come before our Heavenly Father with hearts full of gratitude and praise.
To know the reality that Jesus is risen, He is risen indeed, is to know that we also will one day rise IN HIM and that he is coming back for us one day, just as He promised.
And just as those first disciples centuries ago proclaimed Jesus’ resurrection, let us proclaim the truth that JESUS LIVES, JESUS SAVES, and JESUS IS COMING BACK! All hail the power of Jesus’ name! It’s a proclamation of freedom in the Son and a warning of the judgment to come. May we ready ourselves by His grace.
It’s Friday and Sunday’s coming; I’ve only touched on a few things that we should be grateful for and excited about. And, as the old-time preachers used to say, “If you can’t get on fire about that, your wood is too wet!”
As you read the Decency Minute scripts below, take time to think what the risen Lord could do regarding each story. How might you play a role in presenting our living Lord to these situations? Some will pray, others might speak up, and God may lead some to actions we haven’t even considered. Stand strong and walk in obedience.
Come, Holy Spirit, We Need Thee
This week the White House released an Easter greeting laying out the salvation message more clearly than many wishy-washy churches do.
The way to salvation is a message that many around us have never heard.
In less than 20 years, the number of Americans claiming to be Christians dropped from 78% down to just 62%, while nearly one-third don’t identify with any religion. We also have a loneliness epidemic where nearly one in five young adults say they have no one to count on for support.
Yet, there are encouraging signs that America may be on the verge of a spiritual awakening.
Millions in our nation are hungering for hope and truth – and we have what they ultimately are longing for: Jesus Christ.
May we heed the call in the presidential message and “pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon our beloved Nation.”

With advancing technology in IVF (In vitro fertilization), one must ask the question: Is an embryo a person or has it simply become property?
It’s a vital question as we see the commodification of embryos, complete with designer babies – choosing the sex, eye and hair color, or even selecting donors who have attended prestigious schools; and polygenic screening, which screens out “unacceptable” traits.
Recognizing that embryos are living, developing human beings, we must not treat them as commodities to be bought, sold, or even selected, while discarding those deemed “unacceptable.” That devalues the sanctity of life, life which is given by our Creator God.
The Christian can’t help but see that an embryo is a person, the life within him or her an image bearer of God. Any who would consider the embryo to be property, must come to grips that it’s God’s property, not man’s.
While the Supreme Court in the U.K. could answer the question, “What is a Woman?” – ruling unanimously that the term ‘woman’ is defined by biology and not transgender delusion – leftists in the U.S. continue to defy federal law; the will of the people; and God’s created order.
The governor of Maine has dug in her heels to allow males to compete against girls, steal their titles, and invade their locker rooms. In response, the D.O.J. is suing the State of Maine for refusing to comply with Title IX.
Meanwhile in New Hampshire, a federal judge banned two fathers from wearing pink wristbands emblazoned with “XX” in reference to female chromosomes, who had worn them in silent protest against males competing in their daughters’ sports.
Proverbs 10 well-describes these leftists who sacrifice our daughters to advance radical ideology: “To do evil is like sport to a fool.”
Puritan John Flavel wrote about The Father’s Bargain with the Son. Might each of us be humbled by the sacrifice of Jesus, while exalting His name and giving glory to God for His grace and mercy.
Father: My son, here is a company of poor miserable souls, that have utterly undone themselves, and now lie open to my justice! Justice demands satisfaction for them, or will satisfy itself in the eternal ruin of them: What shall be done for these souls?
Son: O my Father, such is my love to, and pity for them, that rather than they shall perish eternally, I will be responsible for them as their Surety; bring in all thy bills, that I may see what they owe thee; Lord, bring them all in, that there may be no after-reckonings with them; at my hand shalt thou require it. I will rather choose to suffer thy wrath than they should suffer it: upon me, my Father, upon me be all their debt.
Father: But, my Son, if thou undertake for them, thou must reckon to pay the last mite, expect no abatements; if I spare them, I will not spare thee.
Son: Content, Father, let it be so; charge it all upon me, I am able to discharge it: and though it prove a kind of undoing to me, though it impoverish all my riches, empty all my treasures, (for so indeed it did, 2 Cor. 8: 9. “Though he was rich, yet for our sakes he became poor”) yet I am content to undertake it.
Flavel: Blush, ungrateful believers, O let shame cover your faces; judge in yourselves now, has Christ deserved that you should stand with him for trifles, that you should shrink at a few petty difficulties, and complain, this is hard, and that is harsh? O if you knew the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ in this his wonderful condescension for you, you could not do it.
