The Decency Minutes scripts this week directly and indirectly show the importance of knowing the pure Word of God. The psalmist makes the vitality of the Bible very clear in Psalm 19:7-11. (Please read these verses at the end of this alert). Whether we’re looking to see what our actions should be or what the purpose of the church is in the 21st century; if we’re perplexed by a government that lifts up the wicked and attacks the righteous; if we would have discernment regarding doctrine or need to reflect on how the dominion principle is being and should be carried out; then we need to be daily digging deep into God’s Word and spending time in earnest prayer, while believing that James 1:5 is still true today. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN HIM.” BUT, ask in complete faith.
Founder of the Salvation Army, William Booth, gave a warning regarding the church. Much of it has crept into various denominations to one degree or another. We can praise the Lord that there are some churches and many Christians who yet hold to the precious treasure of God’s Word where these warnings are concerned.
“I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and heaven without hell.” ~William Booth

Wildfires. Mysterious drones in the skies. Threats of war. Development of AI and autonomous robots.
These are just a few of the events we’re living through as we enter 2025. It sounds more like a superhero movie than it does real life.
Who knows what the repercussions of these events will be or what the Lord has in store for us next?
It can be intimidating to think about what the world will look like in another decade or two when the implications of these events begin to shake out.
But it is encouraging to look back and see the hand of God in history. We know that the hand of the God of the Bible has not grown weak.
May He empower us in the year ahead to work boldly for the growth of His kingdom, for we know that the Gates of Hell will not prevail against His church.

This brings us to two promises found in Proverbs 29:16 “When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.”
In other words, hold on to your hats and keep trusting in God.
For decades, California has been ruled by environmentalists who worship creation rather than the Creator. Now Californians are paying the price as they watch their homes go up in smoke.
The northern part of the state has plenty of water, but rather than diverting it to Southern California, it’s allowed to drain out to sea – all to protect a tiny smelt fish.
At the dawn of history, God gave mankind a creation mandate to fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over every living creature – including fish.
The earth was made for man, but leftists treat human beings as a plague to the planet. While we’re to be good stewards, the earth’s resources are meant to be used for human flourishing – not as an object of worship.
Both in this world and the next, when the Christian worldview is abandoned, the consequences are devasting.

What a beautiful portion of Scripture preserved for us to read, be encouraged by, blessed by, and instructed by. It’s a good portion to commit to memory to better meditate on and draw on during these increasing days of wonder and trouble.
“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.” (Psalm 19:7-11)
