As Jews celebrate Passover, God’s deliverance from the terror of Pharaoh, mobs of inflamed pro-Hamas protestors are taking over elite university campuses, terrorizing Jewish students and calling for the death of Jews. While Columbia University in New York has been the epicenter, anti-Semitic protests have spread from coast to coast. Disturbing videos have come to light of hate-filled chants and Jewish students being harassed, including a mob surrounding a lone Jewish student preventing him from entering a university building. Protestors hurled offensive slurs at Jewish students; called for an intifada, meaning “uprising,” which historically has been Islamic violence against Jews; and chanted, “We are Hamas, long-live Hamas;” “Al-Qassam (Hamas’ militant brigade), make us proud! Burn Tel Aviv to the ground!” and “Hamas, we love you. We support your rockets too.” One Jew-hating protestor held a sign stating, “Al-Qasam’s next targets,” pointing toward a group of Jewish students. One of the most chilling threats this anti-Semitic mob chanted, was: “Never forget the 7th of October. That will happen not one more time, not five more times, not 10…100…The 7th of October is going to be every day for you.”
The pro-Palestinian protests that shocked us after October 7 – when Hamas brutally and sadistically raped and murdered over 1,400 Israelis – have now become even more extreme. The protests have gone from supporting Palestinians to now identifying with the terrorists themselves. They no longer call for a ceasefire in Gaza or a two-state solution – instead they’re calling for the destruction of Israel.
Some in the media have compared this to the unrest on college campuses in the 1960s. However, there is no comparison between those protests, which were for civil rights and against a controversial war in Vietnam, and today’s campus mobs essentially calling for the extermination of the Jewish people. Rather, what we’re now seeing is disturbingly more reminiscent of 1930s Germany. One of the earliest examples of the targeting of Jews in Nazi Germany began with German university students, who had bought into Hitler’s Aryan ideology, harassing Jewish students and boycotting Jewish professors – leading to their expulsion. “The goal is achieved! No more Jews at German Universities,” was the 1938 headline of Die Bewegung, the main Nazi student paper.
With what we’re seeing today – not only with the anti-Semitism on America’s campuses, but also the refusal of university presidents to protect Jewish students and unequivocally condemn the pro-Hamas protestors calling for Jewish genocide – it seems we’re not that far from 1938.
This is not an issue of free speech. This is blatant hatred of Jews. It’s not citizens exercising their First Amendment rights to peacefully protest. It’s terrorism. Oxford dictionary defines terrorism as, “the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.” Exactly what these “protestors” are doing. They told us, themselves, who they are: “We are Hamas.”
The venom they spew is the fruit of the poisonous propaganda they’ve been fed in our institutes of “higher learning.” The moral and intellectual rot coming from our universities and colleges is directly caused by the Marxist march through the institutions that has been occurring under our noses. For decades Marxist revolutionaries have been hired to teach and lead America’s college students. It’s no wonder, then, that the current generation espouses Marxist ideology and hatred. It’s also no surprise that university presidents have ceded control of the campus to these anti-Semitic protestors, refusing to condemn them or shut down the hate-filled demonstrations, which are in violation of their own campus’ code of conduct. The leadership isn’t sympathetic to their terrorized Jewish students, but rather supportive of the protestors and their anti-Jewish, anti-America rhetoric. While Columbia faculty engaged in a walk-out in support of the anti-Semitic riots, one Jewish professor found that his I.D. had been deactivated by Columbia University leadership to keep him off campus.
A flyer circulating at pro-Hamas demonstrations at the University of Michigan shows the ultimate goal of these protestors and those instigating them. The flyer states: “Freedom for Palestine Means Death to America.”
Perhaps you’ve seen the video of the encampments of these protestors on campus with row after row of identical tents. Obviously, there is funding and organization behind these riots – they aren’t just spontaneously occurring. It’s coordinated and it’s purposeful. One force behind the protests is the radical group, Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), which is on 200 campuses and has wielded a student army, breeding anti-Semitism and hate.
In addition, many of the same dark money neo-Marxist groups seeking to radically transform America, such as George Soros, have funded the protests. These agitators have found willing soldiers for their cause on our already anti-American college campuses. However, this hatred won’t stay on college campuses. We already see that it’s permeated the Democratic Party and these radicalized students will be our future politicians, lawyers, judges, and educators.
Where is Joe Biden as anti-Semitism explodes on America’s college campuses? Last year he gave a nationally televised speech claiming white supremacy was the “greatest terrorist threat” to America. The year before that Biden also gave an ominous national address claiming that MAGA Americans were a dangerous, existential “threat to democracy” who would “fan the flames” of violence. While the Biden administration continues to paint conservatives as extremists, it’s actually those on the Left fanning the flames of violence, hatred, and terrorism. They are the domestic terrorists, the true existential threat. Where’s the national presidential address condemning their anti-Semitism and violent rhetoric? Yet the only condemnation Biden could muster, on Passover no less, was to state in passing to a reporter’s shouted question: “I condemn the anti-Semitic protests … I also condemn those who don’t understand what’s going on with the Palestinians…” In other words, Biden is odiously claiming the two are morally equivalent. He won’t forcefully condemn anti-Semitism because he wants the pro-Hamas, antisemites to vote for him. His main concern is winning the support of those who terrorize Jewish Americans and chant “Death to America.”
This week, Biden’s State Department included Israel on its list of the world’s most egregious human rights violators. Israel was listed on page one of the report, along with terrorist regimes such as Iran, Vladimir Putin in Russia, the Taliban in Afghanistan, Hamas, and Communist China carrying out genocide against Uighurs. To equate Israel, (our most important ally in the region), with the terror group Hamas, (which slaughters babies, rapes women, and burns people alive), is truly egregious. Israel didn’t initiate the war in Gaza, but rather only retaliated in response to the horrific attacks by Hamas. And according to John Spencer of West Point and chairman of urban warfare studies: “Israel has taken more steps to avoid harming civilians than any other military in history. …” Yet the Biden administration continues to site fake Palestinian casualty numbers provided by Hamas as their reasoning for labeling Israel as a “human rights violator.”
If the Biden administration equates Israel with Hamas, they certainly won’t condemn the hatred, anti-Semitism, and calls for violence that are permeating our nation.
John Daniel Davidson writing for the Federalist, well-describes the leftists currently in power and the mob of leftists on America’s campuses: “They are, like Islam itself, post-Christian, and their morality, like the morality of Hamas, is decidedly pagan. That means they do not believe in universal human rights or inherent human dignity. They do not believe in the Christian doctrine of imago Dei and the moral imperatives that flow from it. They do not believe in objective morality or truth. They reject the Christian precepts that constitute the basis for Western civilization. These are the barbarians who reside beyond the gates of the Christian West. They believe only in power, and they will do whatever they can to gain it. …”
If/when our nation falls, I don’t think it will be from military conquest, but rather, from within. It seems we’re well on the way.
Our only hope is in the mercy of God. Pray that our nation returns to Him.
