We are now 26 days out from what is sure to be one of our nation’s most consequential elections, in which our home state of Michigan will play an important role.
Millions of our people, particularly in the Southern states, are reeling from the impact of two hurricanes in the past several weeks.
Last week, a consequential longshoremen’s union strike, which would affect the cost and availability of critical, everyday goods, was announced and then postponed.
Also last week, our ally in the middle east, Israel, was attacked with missile strikes, leaving hanging the question of what the American military response will be. Will our sons and daughters once again be sent to war?
Will Russia be prompted into an attack on American soil by our support of Ukraine?
As prices continually increase, will our families be able to afford the ever-rising cost of living?
Will our families and neighborhoods be safe as crime rates rise and laws grow more lax?
Will our communities become the next Springfield, Ohio? Will our schools be safe for our kids? Will our kids be able to find Christian spouses in our communities? Will our churches be allowed to stand on Biblical truth?
We have no shortage of things to be concerned about. Which means we have no shortage of things to PRAY about!
Charles Spurgeon in his sermon, “Essential Points on Prayer,” said this: “…what an honour it is, if you come to think of it, to have audience with God! The frail, feeble, undeserving creature is permitted to stand in the august presence of the God of the whole earth, and the Lord regards that poor creature as if there were nothing else for him to observe, and bends his ear and his heart to listen to that creature’s cry. It is necessary to a living prayer— to feel that we are speaking to God, and that God is hearing us.
“… Your heavenly Father knoweth that you have need of these things, and you may rest perfectly content; for, in coming into his presence, you have done according to his command, and therefore his promise holds good to you.”
We Christians must take this privilege and responsibility seriously!
And that’s why ADA is hosting a prayer event in our auditorium at 203 E Main St, Fremont, MI, just days before the election, Thursday, October 24 at 6:30 PM. We will be joined by several local pastors and national leaders and also have time for our audience to join together in public prayers, giving opportunities for national repentance, thanksgiving, and supplication.
We would love to have you join us as we approach the throne of God, and seek his blessing and spiritual awakening in our nation.
We hope to see you in our auditorium at 203 E Main St, Fremont, MI on Thursday, October 24, at 6:30 PM!
