There’s no question that the winds in our nation have been “winds of change.” Take heart though, even contrary winds can propel us forward if we set our sails aright. Today’s Decency Minutes both show these winds of change and tell us to set our hearts upon God and His mercy and grace.
When the storms are raging, remember it was our Saviour that cried out, “Peace be still!” and all became instantly calm. Other times, the storms continue to rage but Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27) Such peace only comes by setting the sails of our mind aright, keeping our eye, heart, and mind set on Him who is the “author and finisher of our faith.”
As you listen to Bill Johnson narrate these Decency Minute scripts and you remember these winds of change, I leave you with a poem written by Ella Wheeler Wilcox entitled The Winds of Fate.
One ship drives east and another drives west
With the selfsame winds that blow.
‘Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales
Which tells us the way to go.
Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate
As we voyage along through life:
‘Tis the set of a soul
That decided its goal,
And not the calm or the strife.
With the media a propaganda arm of the Left, many voters are unaware of the lies told by Kamala Harris. At the recent presidential debate, Harris falsely claimed: “Nowhere in America is a woman carrying a pregnancy to term and asking for an abortion.”
The grievous fact is, 21 states allow for abortion until birth and more than 56,000 late-term abortions were performed, according to CDC’s recent data. Harris also claimed Trump was lying when he said babies who survived an abortion are killed. Yet under legislation signed by her own VP, Tim Walz, babies born alive from an abortion are left to die.
Isaiah 59 paints a picture of America when it says “righteousness stands far away; for truth has stumbled in the public squares.”
Pray that we will see truth prevail in our public square and in the hearts of the American people.

An opportunity to truly “Love thy Neighbor”
There are obviously stark differences between our political parties.
But all of those differences really come down to one big difference: how they define ‘love.’ “Love your neighbor.” Both sides like that command of Jesus, but they don’t mean the same thing when they say it.
One side means “give your neighbor what they want,” even if it’s mutilating their body, killing their infant, or importing cheap labor. The other side means “do what’s best for your neighbor,” even if that means not just giving them what they want, but giving more opportunities for work and allowing them to keep the fruits of their labor, or recognizing children as a blessing, or saying “don’t cut that off, you might want it later.”
Here’s a reminder: our elections are an opportunity to show love to our neighbor, but it’s not loving to help them hurt themselves.
Wisdom, to hunger and thirst after righteousness, holiness, striving to discern and to do the will of God: more than a checklist, these are truly matters of the heart.
J. C. Ryle reminds us, “They do the will of God best who do it from the heart. Would we train children right? Let us teach them to love God.” The heart is the ruling faculty of our being; when it’s right it will chase after God in loving obedience, regardless the consequence. But contrary thoughts, emotions, or relationships will cool one’s love for God and redirect the heart.
No wonder Solomon commands us to “Guard thy heart with all diligence: for out of it are the issues of life”
