3 in 3 for 8-2-24

By: Steve Huston

This morning I awoke with praise in my heart and the Holy Spirit bringing to my memory Psalm 103:1-6. “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.”

God is always worthy of praise, but little did I know that he was preparing my heart and my focus for what would come next: I read Gary Bauer’s End of Day report from yesterday. I would encourage you to read it to; Bill Johnson called it “one of his strongest.” May we always praise God in the storm! (song)

Reading that sixth verse: “The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed,” also prepared my heart to pray for the many injustices and wickedness that I would read about in Mr. Bauer’s report. I trust that David’s words have prepared you to read or listen to the Decency Minutes we put before you today. Bill Johnson, as usual, narrates them with the passion, zeal, and compassion that such news deserves.

As you read, I urge you to pray to the God of Heaven, ponder on His goodness and the evil of wickedness, praise God for mercy and truth, and pass these news bits on by word of mouth, forwarding this email, or posting these Decency Minutes to your favorite social media site.

Following the Decency Minutes, we quote Gary Bauer from a recent podcast.

We NEED Clarity!

Although speaking of Hamas and those who stand with them, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke words that should be taken to heart by us all:

My friends, defeating our brutal enemies requires both courage and clarity. Clarity begins by knowing the difference between good and evil. Yet… many choose to stand with evil.

If we hope to defeat these Leftist or Marxist strategies that are brutalizing our nation, we need clarity; we need to know the difference between good and evil. We NEED to better understand the evil of evil.

God gives clarity to what is good and evil through His Word. We must stop being ambivalent to the evil within us and around us if we truly want to see wrong vanquished. God is sovereign, yet He calls us to stand firm, steadfastly promoting righteousness while departing from and combating the evil of this world.

Google search or Searching Google

A NATO document explains that information warfare “may… involve so-called social cyber-attacks, by creating in people’s minds a specific image of the world, consistent with the goals of the information warfare conducted by a given country….

So, what should we think when we see that Google search doesn’t give recommendations when you start to type “Trump Assassination?” or that when your search “Trump Rally,” its top results are news about a Harris Rally?

How about when Meta’s AI tells us that the assassination attempt was a “fictional event?”

A “specific image of the world,” as that NATO document describes it, is being crafted and assumed by every information broker we deal with any given day, whether that’s a news source, a search engine, or an entertainer.

These manipulators understand that you don’t have to retrain society’s conscience if you can determine what their conscience is responding to.

A REAL Olympic Torch

By now you’ve heard of the perverse drag queen parody mocking the Last Supper at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. Yet, those with power and influence in our post-Christian Western world, aren’t satisfied with merely mocking Christianity; they want to eradicate its message. They hate Christ, because they hate Truth.

Since the days of the early Church, Christianity has been under attack, but it will never be snuffed out. God is building His Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.

The day after the Olympic opening ceremony, a power outage left the city in the dark. The only place that still had power was the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a church located at the highest point in Paris. A reminder that, as John 1:5 states, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

In response to the Olympic rendition of “The Last Supper,” Gary Bauer had much to say. The quote I lifted from this podcast applies to all attacks and misrepresentations from the Left, not just regarding LGBTQ+ attacks.

The political and cultural left around the world, including here in the United States, is constantly accusing Christians of being intolerant. And a lot of us tie ourselves in knots, trying to explain that we’re really not. A lot of Christians get very defensive about this. We need to stop being defensive. We need to stop apologizing for our faith. We aren’t the haters; they are, and their hate is growing and becoming more aggressive.

To this I would add Jesus’ words in John 15:18-21. “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.

Do you believe that sin – all sin – is truly evil? Do you believe that Jesus is the only way of salvation?  Do you believe that if we are ashamed of Jesus and His words, He will be ashamed of us before His Father in Heaven?

If the answer is yes to these questions, then don’t cower, but stand firm in the faith and speak up – in love, concern, and compassion – but don’t apologize for sharing the truth with others. As Charles Spurgeon exhorted: “If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.
