Three pieces of news in three minutes – that’s our 3 in 3. Do you ever wonder how these three bits of news (Decency Minutes) end up in your inbox weekly?
Our writers craft a one-minute script regarding some news event or inspirational thought (to keep it to approximately 148 words is not an easy task); Bill Johnson narrates them; the sound tracks get edited, sent to various radio stations, and posted to our website under the tab “Radio Programs;” then we put those three scripts together in a Word document and edited again. Finally, we send that document out in an email and it lands in your inbox (hopefully), for you to read, think about, and (again hopefully) pass on to others.
It’s a labor of love and we trust that you’re joining us in that labor by forwarding the email to others and/or posting the links for those Decency Minutes on your favorite social media platforms. We’re in this together; we appreciate your help, your prayers, notes of encouragement, or even a financial gift upon occasion.
Without further ado, here is this week’s 3 in 3!
In 2019, Joe Biden stated: “The idea that we would cut off military aid to an ally… is absolutely preposterous. It’s just beyond my comprehension anyone would do that.”
Yet, Biden is now doing exactly that – withholding promised military aid to Israel, betraying our ally while protecting terrorists.
Incredibly, the day before he announced cutting off vital weapons to Israel, the Biden administration allowed the sale of arms to Lebanon and Qatar – enemies of Israel. This subversive foreign policy isn’t coming just from Biden, but from the puppet-masters pulling the strings behind the scenes. This administration is replete with radical elements seeking to undermine Israel.
Under Biden’s leadership, our enemies are emboldened and the Mid-East is a powder keg. Yet he is more concerned with securing votes, than securing our nation.
Pray for God’s mercy upon our nation and pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
On Memorial Day, we honor American soldiers who gave their lives for the preservation of this country and what it stands for. More honestly, I must say, “what it stood for.”
Our nation, for the first time in its 250-year history, now stands against Christianity, particularly its most orthodox forms. What’s a true believer to do?
John Daniel Davidson, in Pagan America, writes:
“The primary task of American Christians in the generations to come will therefore be the preservation and propagation of the faith at all costs. And the costs will be high. Yes, that will require being prepared to be poorer and more marginalized, but it will also require being prepared to be arrested, imprisoned, and martyred.”
As Isaac Watts wrote so long ago:
“Sure I must fight if I would reign;
Increase my courage, Lord;
I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain,
Supported by Thy Word.”
Last week in a commencement speech, Oklahoma City Chief’s kicker, Harrison Butker, made some pretty controversial statements, like “Some of you [women] may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”
Butker even went on to suggest that many of them might find their role as “homemaker” to be the more fulfilling than work outside the home!
In a world where young women are told they can be whatever they want to be – even a man! – all it takes to be controversial is saying that “homemaker” is one of the most important titles of all.
Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day may be behind us, but in our day when folks have a hard time answering the question, “What is a woman?” ours deserve a little extra appreciation.
As these three Decency Minutes point out, it takes courage to stand; it’s easy to give in. That’s one of the reasons God told Joshua: “Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.” Joshua 1:7
For over three hundred years, Isaac Watts has encouraged people to stand boldly, courageously for Jesus and His way of the cross:
Am I a soldier of the cross,
A follow’r of the Lamb?
And shall I fear to own His cause,
Or blush to speak His name?
Must I be carried to the skies
On flow’ry beds of ease,
While others fought to win the prize,
And sailed through bloody seas?
Are there no foes for me to face?
Must I not stem the flood?
Is this vile world a friend to grace,
To help me on to God?
Sure I must fight if I would reign;
Increase my courage, Lord;
I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain,
Supported by Thy Word.
Thy saints in all this glorious war
Shall conquer, though they die;
They see the triumph from afar,
By faith’s discerning eye.
When that illustrious day shall rise,
And all Thy armies shine
In robes of vict’ry through the skies,
The glory shall be Thine.
