Next week is Thanksgiving; as Americans, we certainly have much to give thanks for. Yes, each of us have losses, sorrows, hurts, disappointments, unfulfilled hopes or dreams; we can focus on those or we can focus on the immense daily blessings that the Lord sends our way. Psalm 68:19 reminds us: “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.” I encourage you to take a minute or two, and as the hymnist writes, “Count your blessings, name them one by one; Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.”
That doesn’t mean that those losses, sorrows, disappointments, etc. stop existing; they’re a part of our lives. As they sometimes do, they’ll crowd into our minds, regardless of the numerous blessings we may count. As difficult as it may be, Paul tells us to give thanks for them: “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (I Thess. 5:18). To do so is to accept God’s sovereignty in your life and to open yourself up to learning, trust, dependence, to further and greater blessing. Most are familiar with the Wise man’s words found in Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Verse seven follows and gives good direction in fulfilling the previous verses, helping us to best deal with those sorrows and disappointments: “Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.”
When tempted to question God, or, worse yet, accuse Him of withholding good from you or even being evil, remember the many blessings He “LOADS” you with daily, give thanks in ALL things, look for the lesson, and TRUST IN HIM.
The weekly Decency Minutes that Bill Johnson narrates and we post and send out to our readers give many opportunities to stretch our faith in giving thanks, sharing truth, and praying. In ALL this and more, may we give thanks to the glory of God!
Wicked Dolls Take Kids to Wicked Website
“Something wicked this way comes,” and it was the packaging on Mattel’s latest “Wicked” dolls. The link printed on the box was supposed to take consumers to the official “Wicked” Movie website. Instead, the misprinted link takes adults and children to a wicked pornographic site.
We at the American Decency Association check our links before we send anything out. One would think that a multi-billion-dollar company could take the time to protect their consumers from images of wickedness and degradation, particularly considering that this product was made for children.
Parents and grandparents, take great care to protect the eyes of children and teens who are in your sphere of influence. Have intentional conversations with them regarding internet usage; would-be abusers lurk on many interactive sites meant for children. Help them to know what’s appropriate to share and what should remain private. Help them guard their mind and their body.
On What Other Issue Do Nearly 3/4 Americans Agree?
In the recent election, Democrats were stunned to learn that one of the deciding factors in Donald Trump’s victory wasn’t immigration or the economy, but the transgender agenda pushed by Kamala Harris and her party. The Trump campaign ads on transgender ideology were his most effective and helped win suburban women and minority men. In fact, seventy-two percent of Americans oppose transgender surgeries and hormones for minors. On what other issue do nearly three-quarters of Americans agree?
This election made clear that the majority of voters are rejecting woke ideology. Will Republicans listen to the people and cut the head off this snake?
Yet, the transgender issue isn’t ultimately about gender; it’s about Truth. It’s about trying to force people to deny what God has written on every human heart since “male and female He created them.” Thankfully, Americans are waking up and rejecting this lie.
Let Us Tell You A Little About Ourselves
This is a Decency Minute, an outreach broadcast of the American Decency Association; I’m Bill Johnson. We’re based in Fremont, on Main Street right across from the old high school. We have a long history with American Family Association as I served as their state director from 1987-1999. Here are a few of our highlights:
We drove Howard Stern off from mainstream radio with our strong letter writing campaign. We also led a campaign that resulted in Abercrombie and Fitch discontinuing their production and distribution of their pornographic catalog. We have brought in powerful speakers like: Frank Gaffney; Curtis Bowers; the late, great Phil Haney; Sandy Rios. You can find us online at AmericanDecency.org.
