I do not know where Governor Lee stands in relationship to the Lord, but I do know that Scripture is truth and we see the words of Isaiah being acted out in a nation which denies truth, as one governor advocates for sanity: “Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey…” (59:15a)
What did Tennessee’s Governor Bill Lee do that was so terrible that it brought the condemnation of the White House upon him? What would cause this administration’s mouthpiece, Karine Jean-Pierre, to declare that Tennessee’s governor is not addressing real issues like public safety, the economy, and schools? What did he do that caused her to claim “that these ridiculous policies aren’t just unnecessary, they are dangerous…. It is completely unacceptable for a governor to be moving in this way … with such a bill. And it is also unfortunate.”?
Is “The Volunteer State” committing heinous attacks on human rights comparable to the CCP (Chinese Communist Party), to which the Biden administration is mostly silent; is that why they’re going around the 10th Amendment to call into question how Governor Lee is handling different crises in his state? Is he coercing or forcing people to take an experimental drug with unknown future effects, bringing danger to his citizens? Is this 15th-most populous of the 50 states illegally ham-stringing a law that’s been in affect since 1931 protecting the most vulnerable of its citizens until said law can be repealed, leaving the innocent helpless, unprotected, unheard, and violently killed (as Michigan’s Governor Whitmer recently did)? No, on these things the current administration is either silent or complicit in its attack on children and in moving America further toward the brink of destruction.
Governor Lee recently signed two bills to protect children, bringing safety and sensibility to the public square. It’s quite ironic that this administration’s spokeswoman would ask, “How is that going to help people’s lives…who are thinking about making sure their kids are going to be safe when they go to school or their communities are safe?” because that’s exactly what these two bills do – ensure the safety of children in their schools, communities, and in some cases, from their young, inexperienced, searching selves. This governor’s desire is to keep children from being “exposed to sexualized entertainment, to obscenity.” Signing SB3 makes Tennessee the first state to limit drag performances and, with SB1, “the ninth state with legal safeguards to protect children from permanent surgical mutilation of their God-given bodies.” (The New American)
The Washington Examiner concisely summarizes these two bills: “The drag ban, known as Senate Bill 3, bans ‘adult cabaret performances’ within 1,000 feet of schools, houses of worship, or public parks, while the procedures bill [SB1] will prohibit medical officials from prescribing puberty blockers or performing gender transition procedures on people under 18.”
The New American adds that, regarding SB3, A first violation of this new law is a misdemeanor with subsequent violations considered a Class E felony in Tennessee. And continues by quoting Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson, “This bill gives confidence to parents that they can take their kids to a public or private show and will not be blindsided by a sexualized performance.”
Of course, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) have both joined the White House in condemning Governor Lee, planning to bring their usual lawsuits.
There will be those who, sincerely from concern, will mention suicidal ideation in such teens who are identifying as a gender other than that with which they were born. The Epoch Times gives a detailed report on this issue, including Prisha Mosley’s testimony before the senate committee: “I will agree that lots of trans kids are suicidal and that suicide is a risk, but in my situation, when I said the word gender, all of the other things that caused those suicidal ideations were put to the side and no longer considered. And getting treatment for trauma and preventive care is much harder than getting trans care.”
She also told The Epoch Times that “she felt betrayed by the health professionals who recommended testosterone treatments and an elective mastectomy.”
These are turbulent and perilous times. Fewer in authority are taking stands and more are falling in line, bowing at the altar of LGBTQ+ demands, threats, and bullying – leaving this nation’s children to the ever-increasing influence of those who would bring permanent change to likely temporary inquisitiveness. Of course, parents must bring reality and sensibility to their children, having difficult and serious Biblical conversations with them. It’s just as important that our elected officials do what they can to protect children from predators, including emotional, mental, and sexualizing ones – not only the physical ones.
Having stood for the protection of children and sensibility, Governor Bill Lee has painted a target on his back (“departing from evil and making himself a prey”). I urge you to call, write a letter, or email him to let him know you are grateful for his stand. If you will or are praying for him, let him know. Here is his contact information:
