Take a Stand for God and Don’t Cave to the World

When I decided to purchase cable TV, I was excited to see that it included the Hallmark channel. They were good, wholesome movies that you knew were fine for all ages to watch.  It was fun watching movies where you always knew that the couple would end up together and that everything would work out for the best.  Even the Hallmark Murder and Mysteries, you could try to solve the mystery without all the blood and guts.

Hallmark started out by offering family friendly cards, stores, and movies.  But they have turned away from that for a while now.  In 2008, they came out with same-sex greeting cards -that was years before the Supreme Court made it legal for same-sex marriage in 2015.  Their website even has a LGBT page, where you will find different blogs under “Ideas & Inspiration” and 80 different “Cards & Gifts”.

When looking at their movies, one can tell that they have also been slowly adding homosexual content into their films.  I remember watching a movie a few years ago and they had a scene of two guys looking at each other, knowing that they both liked each other.  At the end of the movie, they’re seen sitting at a table flirting with each other.

On December 11, 2022, Hallmark produced its first same-sex main couple movie – The Holiday Sitter.  The star and the Executive Producer for the movie, Jonathan Bennett, wrote on his Instagram page: “The Holiday Sitter” will make history as the first Leading Gay Couple in a Hallmark Christmas movie EVER! Words can’t describe what it feels like to have Executive Produced and starred in such an incredible story that will mean so much to so many! A HUGE APPLAUSE to @hallmarkchannel and all the leadership and executives, they not only believed in this story but took such good care of it championed it wholeheartedly the entire process. Dec 11 will be a very special day.”

Especially after this, many people are asking where do we turn?  Is there another channel that would give us good, wholesome shows/movies?  I came across Great American Family (GAF) network.  According to their website: “Great American Family features family-friendly series, original holiday movies and seasonal rom-coms that celebrate faith, family and country.”  It is great that GAF will be producing movies that will be good and wholesome again.

GAF and their executives have come under fire by some.  In November 2022, Candace Cameron Bure, who was on many movies for Hallmark and is now an Executive Producer for GAF, made some comments while being interviewed by Variety magazine.  “While Hallmark is doing a strong push for more LGBTQ+ storylines — their first original holiday movie focused on a same-sex couple debuts next month — that won’t be happening at Great American Family,” the entertainment outlet relayed.  Added Bure: “I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core.”

Bure also told the Wall Street Journal, “I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.”

Of course, Candace and Great American Family received backlash from Hallmark stars and loyal viewers, but it hasn’t hurt them as they made an announcement on January 3, 2023: “Great American Family closed out Fourth Quarter 2022 as the fastest-growing network in all of cable television.”  I am excited to see God bless an organization that is standing up against what the world says is ok, but what we as believers know goes against what the Bible says.  So many networks and movie businesses believe that you need to add LGBT+ content into your shows so that people will watch and accept them.  We, as Christians, need to take a stand and tell them that we don’t want these types of topics in our movies and shows.

Why are we letting a group of people push and shove their agenda onto us and we just sit back and accept it?  It amazes me when I hear “Christians” that go along with the LGBT+ agenda and promote it.  Have they not read the Bible – “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” (Eph. 5:31)

It made my heart sink when I heard that singer, Amy Grant, was going to host her niece’s same-sex wedding.  I wondered if this was the first time she supported the LGBT+ agenda.  I found a PrideSouce article from 2021 stating: “Though she has a large LGBTQ+ following — there’s even a Gay Friends of Amy Grant group on — the singer has been somewhat guarded in verbalizing her support for the LGBTQ+ community. We can now say without a doubt that the community has Grant’s support.

 “‘Who loves us more than the one who made us?’ Grant asked in the July 12 interview. ‘None of us are a surprise to God. Nothing about who we are or what we’ve done. That’s why, to me, it’s so important to set a welcome table. Because I was invited to a table where someone said “Don’t be afraid, you’re loved.” …Gay. Straight. It does not matter.’”

It is sad that “Christians” are selling out just to make money and further their career.  If you are a believer then you are supposed to stand firm in what the Bible states.  Too many are twisting the Word of God to make it agree with what they want it to.  Satan is using all these false agendas and is using it to normalize it and they are falling for it.

Don’t be afraid and take a stand, especially in your home with what you watch and listen to.
