Matthew Trewhella Coming to West Michigan!

Newaygo County Grassroots is hosting Pastor Matthew Trewhella, an expert on The Lesser Magistrate Doctrine, at the American Decency building (203 E. Main St. Fremont, MI) on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 6:30 PM. He will be speaking on the Application of the Doctrine of Lesser Magistrates to County and Local Government. With so much tyranny taking place within Michigan and other states, lesser magistrates need to be lawful, bold, and fulfill their duties to the people. Specifically, the citizens of Michigan are in desperate need of our lesser magistrates to use their power of interposition, standing on behalf of and for the benefit of their constituents, while opposing our out-of-control higher magistrates (Governor Whitmer and others).

A few glaring, recent examples are easily seen: First, the law which protected the unborn in this state was hamstrung by our governor while she and others pushed hard to make Michigan one of the most dangerous states for its citizens who occupy the womb. Second, the Communist Chinese electrical battery plant (Gotion) which is proposed to be built in the Big Rapids area which is being heavily pushed by those in authority, heavily funded by the taxpayers, and heavily contested by those who live in the area and others. The concerns are many: ecological, political, financial, to name but a few. Third, have you wondered what can be done about the transgender issues in our public schools? It’s an ever-growing concern. Come to learn and to ask questions.

We often wonder what we can do. A large, yet often overlooked, part of what we can do is to encourage these lesser magistrates to stand and then stand by them as they stand against corruption, tyranny, and other wrong-doings.

“Lesser magistrates, by virtue of their office, constitute lawful authority. When the lesser magistrate stands against unjust or immoral law made by a superior, his actions benefit those under his jurisdiction, as well as the nation as a whole.

“Simply put, the lesser magistrates provide order when the superior authority acts unjustly or immorally, and its abuse of power needs to be quelled.” (Matthew Trewhella)

Pastor Trewhella also writes, “The lesser magistrates in America today need to be reminded that a magistrate who upholds or follows an unjust or immoral law becomes complicit in the higher authorities’ rebellion against God. Salisbury rightly declared in Policraticus: ‘Loyal shoulders should sustain the power of the ruler so long as it is exercised in subjection to God and follows His ordinances; but if it resists and opposes the divine commandments and wishes to make me share in its war against God, then with unrestrained voice, I answer back that God must be preferred before any man on earth.’”
