ACTION NEEDED NOW – Lives DEPEND on it!

The Michigan Housing and Human Services committee is heavily lopsided with eight (8) Democrats and three (3) Republicans; they ALL (Ds and Rs) need to hear from you! Reach out to these eleven (11) members of this Senate committee and ask them to VOTE NO on the Reproductive Health Act (RHA). (Click here for their contact info.)

Today, these senators who work for you will be discussing the RHA. This bill package, if passed, would remove essential health and safety standards for women.

Our senators should be made aware that:

* Over 90% of Michigan voters (even those who are pro-choice) support regulation that requires abortion facilities to be licensed and inspected by the state for health and safety reasons. (Released by the Michigan Catholic Conference)

* 65% of both pro-choice voters and those who voted yes on Proposal 3 support 24-hour waiting periods. (Released by the Michigan Catholic Conference)

Citizens for Traditional Values (CTV), in a press release last month stated: “Currently, all 50 states in the US have informed consent laws, with the majority including 24 hour or longer waiting periods before an abortion. Michigan would be the first and only state to recklessly abandon this standard of best practice. Source: https://www.guttmacher.org/state-policy/explore/counseling-and-waiting-periods-abortion”

* The use of taxpayer dollars to fund elective abortion violates the conscience rights of those opposed to such procedures and ignores the will of the people. In the same CTV release mentioned above: “A majority of 57% of Michigan voters voted to retain the ban on Medicaid-funded abortions the last time the issue was before voters.  https://ballotpedia.org/Michigan_Proposal_A,_Prohibit_Public_Funds_for_Abortions_for_Public_Assistance_Recipients_Referendum_(1988)”

* “All human life, including the life of a woman seeking an abortion, has inherent value and is worthy of government protection through basic industry regulations. No other industry is left to regulate itself.” (Also from CTV release)

The RHA would remove these important safeguards, including the ban on partial-birth abortions, the law requiring humane disposal of fetal remains, and more. Contact these committee senators now and ask them to vote NO!

Make sure your friends, both Democrat and Republican, are aware of these facts too.
