As we watch the deterioration of our country taking place before our very eyes, many who are believers recognize that the problem is sin and a lack of true belief in God, His ways, and man’s duty to worship and obey his Creator. America was founded upon Biblical principles, the incredible freedom that our nation has experienced is directly tied to the “God of Nature” and His laws/principles found within His Word. It’s no surprise that ideals like justice, freedom, morality, and the protection they bring are being thwarted and wrested out of our hands when we have not followed God’s direction to keep (meaning to protect and guard) His commands and to guard our own hearts. When we keep God’s commands, they keep us. When we guard our hearts, the issues of life are protected.
This week’s Decency Minutes point to the troubles we are witnessing and remind us that the increase of trouble, acrimonious feelings, and probable violence is due to sin in the land. We trust that they will serve as a warning, point to a remedy, and stir us to prayer. Remember, nothing takes God by surprise and nothing is impossible for Him.
Another week, another indictment of former president Donald Trump.
You don’t have to be a fan of Trump to recognize this as an egregious and unprecedented weaponization of our legal system to take out a political opponent. This selective prosecution is another example of our two-tiered justice system.
In Habakkuk the prophet laments, “…justice goes forth perverted.” Perverted justice – what an apt description of what is occurring. Government is supposed to restrain evil, not perpetuate it.
If justice isn’t applied equally to all, it’s not justice, but tyranny. If those in power are allowed to unconstitutionally wield the law as a cudgel, they will continue to do the same to anyone they consider an enemy. The real threat to their power isn’t Donald Trump, but people such as you and me. Those who love freedom are the last obstacle to their quest for absolute power.

Gallup poll results show belief in God has sunk to a new low. In 2001 90% of Americans believed in God. Now, only 74% do. Even fewer believe in heaven, hell, and the devil.
Family Research Council’s Sarah Holliday states, “Americans are deprived of truth while constantly being fed lies…If one does not find their purpose in Christ, Ecclesiastes makes it clear that all is vanity. For the one without God, purpose is impossible to find…We can expect the numbers of those who believe in spiritual entities to continue dropping as the heritage of biblical worldview becomes increasingly forgotten.”
Unbelief breeds consequences we all must bear. Rejection of truth is directly related to loss of freedom.
The Bible warns us to guard our hearts from unbelief. Belief on Jesus brings both salvation and freedom. Christ promised, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
Note: If you’re not currently attending a strong Bible-believing church which unashamedly stands on God’s principles of law and grace, we urge you to become a part of one. Plead with your children/grandchildren to do likewise. Not only does the direction of our nation hang in the balance, more importantly, our soul does. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.
America, come to your senses before it’s too late!
Satan has attacked the family from the beginning of time. A foremost Communist goal has been, “Abolition of the family!” and Sen. Josh Hawley recently explained that “The left has waged a continuous war on the nuclear family.”
While some parents and communities fight against “Pride” parades and “drag” shows. Leftists keep pursuing ideologies that undermine the family, specifically attacking our children.
Meanwhile, Russian leader Vladimir Putin signed a bill ending sex change surgeries and banning transgenders from adopting or fostering children. The Namibian parliament passed a bill banning homosexual “marriages” between its citizens and foreigners, and also bans “the promotion, solemnization, participation in, and advertising of such unions.” Ghana also recently has criminalized homosexuality.
Whatever issues these countries may have, they are leading the way on this morality front, taking steps to protect the family.
Lord, open our eyes.

Too often when we think about the loss of justice, freedoms, or our inalienable rights, our thoughts are first and foremost on ourselves or perhaps our children and loved ones. That’s understandable; it’s natural. However, it’s vital that we set our mind on Jesus. We need to recognize that God is in control and we must trust on Him. We need to search the Scriptures to understand both God’s Sovereignty and our responsibility, then follow the Spirit’s leading in fulfilling our task. That entails knowing when to speak and when to keep silent; when to act and when to wait. Always believing; always trusting; always praying; and always obeying. How do we fill such a big order? Constantly being in the Word, sharing Christ with others, and praying without ceasing.
