For those who are in the pro-life camp, the phrase “sanctity of life” is one that almost glibly rolls off of our tongue and out of our mouth without a thought. But how many really understand the immense strength of that phrase due to the word “sanctity”? Let’s take a moment to understand this word and phrase. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the word “sanctity” means: “1: holiness of life and character: godliness 2a: the quality or state of being holy or sacred: inviolability.” It’s that second definition that we’re dealing with when we say “sanctity of life.”
Take a minute and just give some thought to what we mean when we talk about the “sanctity of life.” We are saying that life is holy or sacred; it’s inviolable, meaning “1: secure from violation or profanation 2: secure from assault or trespass.”
When we use the phrase “sanctity of life,” what we are really saying is that life must be secured from assault because life is holy; life is sacred. It is sacred because it’s a gift from God; this includes the gift and responsibility of bearing His image. I sometimes feel that instead of shouting “sanctity of life,” it should almost be said with a holy, weighty, hushed whisper of awe.
All that being said, anyone that is pro-life and anyone who truly believes in the sanctity of life needs to be aware of what is happening in Michigan right now. With the Supreme Court’s potential decision to nullify Roe v. Wade, the battleground moves to each local state. In the 1800s Michigan passed a state law that made abortion illegal; it was reinforced in 1931, giving Michigan the strongest pro-life law in the nation. But be warned – Planned Parenthood, anticipating that Roe v. Wade would be nullified, has unleashed a petition that IS AND HAS BEEN circulating, in an effort to destroy Michigan’s strong pro-life stance. Planned Parenthood will use all of its resources to replace Michigan’s pro-life laws with one which is pro-death, including verbiage that opens the door to infanticide. This is being attempted now. We must act NOW!
If anyone approaches you to sign any petition regarding abortion or “reproductive rights,” DO NOT SIGN IT! 
Below is the 92-word summary of the amendment that appears on the petitions and will appear on the ballot in November if enough valid signatures are collected:
“Constitutional Amendment to: establish new individual right to reproductive freedom, including right to make and carry out all decisions about pregnancy, such as prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, contraception, sterilization, abortion, miscarriage management, and infertility; allow state to prohibit abortion after fetal viability unless needed to protect a patient’s life or physical or mental health: forbid state discrimination in enforcement of this right; prohibit prosecution of an individual, or a person helping a pregnant individual, for exercising rights established by this amendment; and invalidate all state laws that conflict with this amendment.”
