As gas prices skyrocket, Americans are paying the price – but not just at the pump.  The high cost of fuel contributes to the cost of everything else escalating.  Gas prices double what they were when Biden took office; a foolhardy, prolonged shutdown of the economy which didn’t stop Covid, but certainly stopped the supply chain; and soaring inflation, rising 8% in February alone and higher than it’s been in 40 years – has caused a trifecta of misery for American families.  And it’s projected to only get worse.

Many experts are warning of a coming global famine.  Food prices are up 20% from just one year ago.  Ukraine, considered one of the most important “breadbaskets” of the world, is a leading exporter of wheat, barley, and corn to the Mideast, Africa, and Europe – supplying these regions with up to 60% of their grain food sources. As the war in Ukraine is prolonged, how much crop planting will occur this spring?  In the U.S., we’re reliant on China and Russia for much of the fertilizer farmers need and costs have gone through the roof as the supply has plummeted.  One Michigan farmer stated: “Fertilizer has doubled in price and we don’t even know if we can get what we need.”  A Texan farmer tweeted: “…fertilizer is up 200% … most herbicides/insecticides up 100%, seed up 20%, diesel and gasoline up 300%. My cost per acre in 2020 was around $700, this year $1300.” The prices farmers are forced to pay to produce our food, and the cost truckers must pay to haul it, will have to be passed on to the retailer, and then the consumer.

At least Bill Clinton once said, “I feel your pain.”  President Biden shows neither concern nor responsibility for the mess his administration has caused.  Rather, he blames Putin, “greedy” corporations, the oil industry, and of course Trump.  Yet the American people see through Biden’s deflection, reflected in his plummeting poll numbers.  Biden dismissively stated about gas prices: “It’s gonna go up.  Can’t do much right now, Russia’s responsible.”  Not only is that   tone-deaf to the plight of Americans, it’s also a bold face lie.  Biden’s own policies, crippling our energy industry, caused prices to rise long before Russia threatened Ukraine.

Even though the U.S. sits on a vast treasure trove of oil, instead of opening up production we’re told by Biden officials to just go buy an electric vehicle to avoid higher gas prices – the average cost of which exceeds $55,000 – more than the yearly salary for millions of Americans.  Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, never letting a good crisis go to waste (a crisis of their own making), said the conflict in Ukraine “creates a moment” to transition to “clean” energy.  Leftist media elites are condescendingly telling us peasants how to deal with inflation, offering advice such as “sell your car and take the bus” and “eat lentils instead of meat.”  Do they think we all live in urban areas? They seem to forget that public transportation isn’t even an option for most Americans.  And while they order their juicy steaks from Uber Eats, we “unwashed masses” should just get used to living on rice and beans.

To Biden and the Left, escalating gas and food prices are not a problem to be solved, but a means to an end.  And that goal isn’t to protect the environment.  The actual goal is to concentrate power and resources into the hands of a global ruling class.  Recently Joe Biden stated in a speech before the Business Roundtable:  “Now is the time where things are shifting. There’s going to be a new world order out there and we’ve got to lead it.” For years leftist elites in the U.S. and in global institutions such as the World Economic Forum, the U.N., and the World Bank have talked repeatedly about instituting a “new world order” and the need for a “great reset.”  This New World Order seeks to undermine individual sovereignty, the Constitution, capitalism, private property – to be replaced with a global system run by these elites.  Covid lockdowns conditioned many people to willingly give up their freedom.  Private property is increasingly consolidated among the rich and powerful; for example Bill Gates is the largest owner of farmland in the United States, allowing him to control what food is – or isn’t – grown.   The International Energy Agency is calling for energy lockdowns, such as banning the use of cars in cities on Sundays and other restrictions on movement, just as we saw with Covid.  Yet those who warn of these globalist goals are called crazy conspiracy theorists, even as these so-called “conspiracy theories” keep coming true.

Thirty years ago, in 1992, the U.N. Agenda 21 was developed as a “comprehensive blueprint for the reorganization of human society.” This 350-page document was very explicit in its goals. It called for the lowering of the standard of living for Americans, re-distribution of wealth, government control of property, energy, production, information.   In essence, the policies of Agenda 21 would affect every aspect of life – controlling what we eat, what products we can buy, where we work and where and how we travel – using the supposed threat of an environmental crisis to convince people to willingly surrender freedom (just as was done with Covid). When this plan was introduced in 1992, UN leadership proclaimed, “Current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the affluent middle class — involving meat intake, use of fossil fuels, appliances, air-conditioning, and suburban housing — are not sustainable.”  Agenda 21 stated that national sovereignty would “yield” to “new imperatives of global environmental cooperation.”

Thirty years ago, those who expressed alarm about Agenda 21 were also labeled conspiracy theorists.  Yet when you read the plan Agenda 21 sought to implement, it is eerily similar to what we see being pushed down our throats today – everything from replacing meat with lentils to eliminating fossil fuels – while power and control is concentrated among the wealthy elites, making us peasants to the ruling class.  Today it’s called the Great Reset or New World Order – different name, same plan.

It’s a pretty bleak picture.  Yet while man schemes, the Sovereign Lord is unfolding His plan – a true New World Order where there will be a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness will reign.  In the meantime, God is upholding His people and the Church’s marching orders remain the same – proclaim the Good News of the Gospel.  As turmoil increases, so will our opportunities to minister in Jesus’ name.
