Church, Be Concerned but DO NOT Worry

America – the World’s Last Bastion of Freedom conference was a whirlwind of events that informed, stirred, and encouraged – all the while “looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.” We were grateful to God for how He worked all things out for His glory. As I encourage you to listen to the last of our recorded pastoral messages from this conference, I want you to know that Pastor Vern Picknally, like the preceding pastors, did a great job of pointing to the Church’s foibles as well as its one and only true strength and beauty – Jesus Christ, the Church’s sacred head.

In his message The Loveliness of the Church: Christ in Her Midst, Pastor Vern hit upon many Scriptures. He opened with Ephesians 2:19-22, “…you are also being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit,” reminding us that “the church is NOT lovely;” but Christ, who dwells in her midst, is. He readily points to the fact that there are attacks upon God’s Bride, both from within and without.

This faithful handler of the Word spoke to the fact that the church should be concerned at all which is happening around us, but we are NOT to fear and we are NOT to worry, for God is sovereign. He encouraged the congregation to take stands, recognizing that persecution may come to us here. He closes with a personal account of persecution from his own family (his wife’s) which is endearing and a good example. If you are a believer you do NOT want to miss out on this particular message.

Pastor Alan Flowers brought an amazing and very interesting message, pulling no punches as he spoke truth regarding the church and our nation in his message The Role of the Church for Truth. He asks and answers some very interesting questions – particularly in regard to the church: “Do you know what you call a foundation with no house on it? Do you know what you call a head with no body?” Are you fulfilling your mission as a pillar and buttress of truth? What about the troubles in the church? Expect your toes to be stepped on because that’s what truth does.

Listen as Pastor Bob Van Manen clearly teaches on Romans 13 and the Duty of Government. In the minds of many Christians today this passages spells total obeisance and homage to the temporal governments which rule over them instead of looking to King Jesus as their final authority, comfort, protector and guide. Listen and be blessed!

Pastor Ralph Rebandt well described the difference in the roles and responsibilities of the church (believers in Christ) and the civil government in his message Caesar Kurios or Jesus Kurios. He asks, “Where was the church in Germany (during the holocaust)?” Where is the church today in speaking out against a government that is trampling our rights? Pastor Rebrandt spells it out clearly and gives some suggestions as to what we can do. He gives a message from Matthew 22 where Jesus is asked the question “Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar?” The answer is an interesting one as Pastor Rebrandt delves into the original language while keeping the audience in rapt attention. What happens when we, in America, replace G-O-D, God, with G-O-V, government? How’s the church supposed to respond? Jesus is above EVERYBODY (including Gretchen).

Don’t miss out on Pastor Mark Novak’s thorough revealing of communism as it’s crept into the lives of Americans, the churches they attend, and the Christian schools they support, even in his stomping grounds of Holland, Michigan. You’ll want to hear him point to Christ’s Church: The World’s Bastion of Truth.
