Shoring Up the Foundation

This month, as we celebrate the coming of our Messiah and the closing of the year, we praise God for His blessings throughout history and up to this present day. As the good news of Jesus has gone forth throughout the world, it has been the foundation for the greatest civilization the world has known. The ideals we take for granted, such as human rights, freedom, and even compassionate medical care are built on ancient Christian principles, including recognizing the Image of God in each human individual. Truly, we can see how Christ has “made his blessings known, far as the curse is found,” as the classic carol reminds us.

These foundational principles are under attack in our nation today. We can see evidence of the foundation giving way in news stories every day. It is our prayer that God would use us to shore up that foundation by reminding our world of God’s truth.
