Cadbury Celebrates Homosexuality in Recent Advertisement

If you didn’t have a Cadbury Egg square on your social justice bingo card, no one could blame you, but Cadbury’s new social media campaign could have gotten you closer to the prize.

The American Family Association sent out an action alert this week, alerting their allies to a video campaign by the Easter treat’s creators featuring two men holding hands and dancing before sharing a Cadbury Egg together, as in taking a bite of the tiny egg at the same time, a la Lady and the Tramp spaghetti noodle scene. It’s clearly meant to be edgy, boundary pressing, and affirming of homosexuality.

Of course, Cadbury’s best sales period is the Easter season, so they are essentially using activities condemned by God’s Word to sell their product to people celebrating Christ’s death and resurrection for our sins.

For now, this advertisement is targeted at Cadbury’s Irish customers, but we’re hoping that enough Christians will let Cadbury know that this kind of advertising is unacceptable anywhere it happens.  AFA is asking Christians to sign their pledge not to purchase Cadbury Eggs and to let the company know that “if they are going to offend you, they won’t be doing it with your money.”

Here’s AFA’s letter they’re asking Christians to send to Cadbury, which is made and distributed in the US by Hershey:

“I’m not buying into your social agenda to push homosexuality. Your latest ad offends me and many other Christians who celebrate Easter with reverence and respect.

I won’t be buying your products either. I’m taking Cadbury Crème Eggs off my shopping list.  Please stick to making chocolates and candies, not political and social statements.”
