We look forward to an important discussion tomorrow at 1:00 PM (EST) with Chuck Ritchard out of the West Michigan area who will be speaking on matters of political importance – understanding the times in order to know what to do.  Although a name unknown to most of us, don’t miss out on this vitally important discussion.

I am recently acquainted with Chuck Ritchrd, which has a long history of political involvement.

Here is what I will be discussing with Chuck Ritchard:

1.  As we approach another season for primary elections, as a rule, voter turnout is typically very low.  Why is that?

2. However (and sadly)  It is often true that the primaries are overlooked and that the incumbent is a shoe-in while the challenger candidate is the one with fire in his/her belly that is not given a fair shake and is overwhelmed by the power of the incumbent who has the natural Inroad and often the party backing.  Why is that and is there anything that can be done to level the playing field?

3.  Chuck:  You have spent a number of years in political races at the local level having even
been in a close state race in the Muskegon, MI area, not prevailing despite having strong endorsements.  What did you learn from that?

4.  With your experiences and organizational expertise you were asked to be the campaign manager for former Gov. John Engler back in the early 90s.  Did you accept that invite? What did you learn from such an opportunity?

5.  Some incumbents as we all know can become increasingly adept in presenting themselves as being “squeaky clean” when in fact they are not.  What questions should people ask of an incumbent that might shed fuller light upon whether they are working for “we the people”
or themselves or the party line above the people.

6. What kind of things should people look for in a challenger?

7.  We often see that a person answers things so well on paper.  They stand for all the right thngs – and they really seem sincere but then they just fall in line and become just like all the others that seem to accommodate, having no fire in their belly and serve their years as just another “place holder.”

8.  What are distinctive qualities that help you identify someone who really will distinguish him or herself in political service particularly at the local level?

9.  Zach Lahring as Muskegon County Commissioner certainly stands out in the Muskegon area as a man who cares so much and stands up.   Let’s talk about some of those qualities.

10.  At the national level, U.S. Representatives Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) have stood out.  What would you say marks them?  Isn’t it possible for a state representative to be strong representatives for the people?  Does anyone come to mind?

11.  Chuck you have a burden to begin an organization that will vet local candidates for office in regard to local politics.  Tell us about that and why do you see this as so needed?
