Pray for a Nation in Crises

By: Steve Huston

You may have noticed that the title of this article says “Crises” instead of “Crisis;” that’s no mistake. Our nation is experiencing several crises and we need to be in prayer regarding each of them.

Before discussing these crises, we invite you to join us, through Zoom, for the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at noon. (A Zoom link is available at the end of this email.) This is a great opportunity for those who feel burdened over America’s many crises to come together and call upon God, for His mercy endures forever.

What are some of the crises America is facing?

Pandemic: There is a virus and it has killed; but even more dangerous is the pandemic of fear, anger, a willingness to be controlled, and an economic disaster that will hit here, having a devastating global impact. Pray for the sick; pray for the fearful; pray for God’s mercy upon those around the world who are affected by the actions of globalists who have hijacked a flu-like virus as a means to their nefarious end.

Lawlessness (stealing our freedoms): In the name of “safety,” elected officials have conspired against their citizens; lawlessly breaking the constitutional chains of enumerated powers and tyrannically shackling the populace to varying degrees. Regardless the willingness of many of “the governed,” it is unconstitutional; thereby making their executive orders illegal. Pray for those in authority; pray for their salvation and that they will remember their oath of office. Pray that both the rule of law and the law of the land will be restored to this great nation.

Deception (an agenda is unfolding): As we look around at the many decisions those in positions of authority are making, we can’t help but see that there is an agenda. Irrational fear of sickness and death is the only reason people are accepting the various inconsistencies that are being forced upon us. Churches closed while liquor stores and marijuana shops are open; necessary surgeries prohibited while abortion mills stay open—the list is very extensive and without this nonsense, the inflated statistics, and the media’s propaganda, they couldn’t bring people to the fear that allows such easy control. Like sheep being led to a slaughter, most are walking in line to an agenda that is being unfolded little by little; and they are getting braver about it as the masses are willingly sheared and the knife is put to their neck. Pray that people will wake up, cherish their freedoms, see the agenda, and cry out to God in repentance, thereby giving God glory, honor, and praise.

Discernment needed by the Church:  The Church victorious has begun to look like the church victimized. Where are those in the pulpit who will rightly speak about Romans chapter thirteen? Romans 13:1 reads: “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” God is the highest power, then our federal Constitution and Bill of Rights, then our state constitution, and then our local laws. When confronted by men (or women) who would direct us to go against God’s commands for His people, we must say with Peter and the other apostles, “We must obey God rather than men.” The church has been lacking discernment for far too long now. Part of the reason is a lack of Biblical instruction; part because we have loved the world and the things of the world; part because it’s easier to go along to get along than to stand firm on Biblical principles of righteousness. Pray that the church will wake up, repent, and experience a great revival. Pray that each individual of the body of Christ will live out Romans 12:1-2 (“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”); so that Romans 13:1 is more easily and correctly lived out by the church.

These are only a few of the crises at hand; WE NEED TO PRAY! I urge you to spend much time in prayer; and I hope that you will join us this Thursday (5/7) at noon as we come to the Throne of Grace to seek God’s help in time of trouble.
