ACT TODAY! Hold the Line! (the thin blue line)

By: Steve Huston

I suspect that none of us truly realize the extent of importance that our local police departments are to us as individuals and communities. Even few recognize that the defunding of our police departments is part of a Marxist agenda that would leave us even more vulnerable to a foreseeable national police force that would be a further step to strip us of our rights and liberties. That being said, we must make every effort to support our local and state police officers and their departments. The following is an urgent plea to do just that for the Grand Rapids, Michigan police department!

We URGE you to read and act upon this information that was shared with us:

“The GRPOA would like to encourage everyone that opposes defunding of GRPD to call in to the city commission meeting tonight at 7 PM and let your voice be heard. Comments can be made at the beginning on agenda items. Defunding is on the agenda.

“In order to make a public comment, please call 311 or 456-3000 and follow the prompts.

“At TONIGHTS GR City Commission meeting Commissioner Yssasi intends to call for a vote to “defund” the GRPD. Two other commissioners seem to be onboard with this plan.

“Chief Payne stated the result of the vote would mean firing 27 interns and between 75 and 80 POLICE OFFICERS (The department’s entire night shift is 66 officers). These reductions would also likely result in:

“–Increased response times to service calls.

–Increased investigation times due to the decrease in personnel assigned to detective and vice unites.

–Redeployment of other non-patrol sworn personnel, including officers assigned to Boys and Girls Clubs, the prison reentry program, the Homeless Assistance Team, community police specialists, and code enforcement.

–Reduction of the Community Engagement Unit to redistribute to patrol operations.

–Decrease in department diversity due to reductions in the Police Academy sponsored program, which has produced some of the most diverse recruiting classes in the department’s history.

–Limited reception and service limits without prior appointment to the public.

“If you live or work in Grand Rapids and do not agree with such a drastic reduction in police officers contact Mayor Bliss and the commissioners ASAP and tell them how you feel. By the way gun crimes are up 63% compared to this same time last year.”

We urge you to pass this on and to keep an eye out for similar meetings in other areas. Then let others know what is going on in their communities. We must all stand together if we hope to overcome the vast evils that are preying upon our communities and upon those who protect us.

We are grateful to God that He has moved on the hearts and minds of our friends, showing us a little of what is inside them. Your notes of encouragement, prayers, and financial support mean so much to us; without them, we wouldn’t be able to do the important work that God has laid upon us.

Won’t you prayerfully seek the Lord’s will to come alongside us again, supporting us in whatever manner you feel led? Thank you.
