Three short attention-getting stories!

Vet Your Vote!

The following West Asian fable gives an important word of warning, as we vote in the coming election cycle. “The forest was shrinking, but the trees kept voting for the axe. For the axe was clever and convinced the trees that because his handle was wood he was one of them.”

We would be wise to take this to heart as we consider the candidates in any election. While it’s important to hear what they say they will do; it’s even more important to see what they’ve done. You’ve heard of RINOs—Republicans In Name Only—they belong to the Republican Party but don’t actively stand on the Party’s platform. This is why so little gets done when they are in control.

Carefully vet the candidates more by what they’ve done—or not done—than by what they say. Actions speak louder than words.

Not so innocent…

“For it is good to be children sometimes, and never better than at Christmas, when its mighty Founder was a child Himself.”– wrote Charles Dickens in A Christmas Carol.

We delight in the excitement of our little ones at Christmas.  Yet while our culture portrays an idealized image of the innocence of childhood – a recent study paints a far more sobering picture.

The study reveals that nearly 40 percent of children have either sent or received a sexually explicit message by the age of 13.  And more than one in ten kids with smart phones will be exposed to sexting by the age of eight

In our sex saturated culture, where public schools teach children about graphic sex acts, it’s no surprise that children are robbed of their innocence at younger and younger ages.  Parents, you are their only line of defense.  Don’t let the culture claim your children.

Anticipating Christmas!

It’s almost here – the week of Christmas. All of the hype, the excitement for presents and good food, the preparation for guests and visitors all culminates on the day that we meditate on the birth of Christ.  How fitting is the anticipation that we feel as we look ahead to Christmas!

It is only an echo of the anticipation of the world as it awaited Christ’s first coming. God had told Adam and Eve this day would come. He had left hints and whispers about it throughout the lives of the imperfect heroes recorded in the Old Testament. He had shared the details through the prophets and the Psalms – telling them what was to come, hyping the coming Kingdom, building their anticipation, and the day finally came.  OUR SAVIOR WAS BORN!

Our celebrations, our feasting, our gift-giving to commemorate the Greatest gift don’t do the event justice! Salvation is here! Merry Christmas!

With Christmas just around the corner your gift would be a great encouragement and help to us here at the American Decency Association. Please share with us as the Lord would lead: prayers, an encouraging word, and a monetary gift would also mean a lot to us at this time. We thank God for you, our readers, and pray that He will move upon your hearts this season.
