The Journey Begins!

By: American Decency Staff

As I walked through the wilderness of this world, I lighted on a certain place, where was a den; and I laid me down in that place to sleep: and as I slept, I dreamed a dream. I dreamed, and, behold, I saw a man clothed with rags, standing in a certain place, with his face from his own house, a book in his hand, and a great burden upon his back. I looked, and saw him open the book, and read therein; and as he read, he wept and trembled; and not being able longer to contain, he brake out with a lamentable cry, saying, ‘What shall I do?’” In short, Pilgrim knew that he needed a Savior in a dark world doomed for destruction.

So opens John Bunyan’s most famous and allegorical writing, Pilgrim’s Progress; and so begins each Christian’s journey, awakened by the Word of God, finally cognizant that his goodness is but rags, and brought to the realization that destruction is his end. Desperately crying out, “What shall I do?” is the only sensible action we can take.

Pilgrim’s Progress chronicles the fantastic journey from the City of Destruction to the Celestial city; it’s an amazing tale full fraught with danger and God’s amazing grace. Movieguide.org describes it this way: “THE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS is a great book, but previous attempts to turn it into a movie have been deficient. This rendition works because it does a wonderful job of creating jeopardy, characters, conflict, and the premise, which drives the story forward. The viewer wants to see the end from the moment the movie starts.THE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS is the best, most entertaining, most imaginative movie translation of the classic book. The only caution is that the demons are frightening and attack in surprising ways.MOVIEGUIDE® highly recommends PILGRIM’S PROGRESS.”

Let me answer the question that you’re undoubtedly asking at this point: “Where can I watch such an inspiring and well done film?” 1) You can wait until it comes out in select theatres on April 18 and 20. OR 2) You can be a part of a free special showing on Friday, April 5 at 1 PM or 7 PM at our headquarters, located in Fremont at 203 E.
