Muskegon, Stand for Lawfulness!

If at all possible, show up TODAY (9/10) at the Muskegon County Board of Commissioners Meeting which starts at 3:30 pm – come early for a better chance to be heard. This meeting is located on the 4th floor of the Muskegon County Building located at 990 Terrace, Muskegon, Michigan.

The Muskegon County Commissioners will be undertaking the first of a three step process to make Muskegon County a sanctuary county! Make your voice heard! Respectfully and firmly let the County Commissioners know that this is unacceptable. Even if you’re from a different county, this affects you and you will be given a voice. (All comments will be limited to two minutes.)

Step 1 is to make Muskegon County a welcoming community to immigrants.

There’s nothing wrong with making our counties welcome to LEGAL immigrants, those who have respected our laws and followed the protocol for becoming a citizen of this nation. BUT when we ignore our own laws, which are put in place for the safety of all citizens, we invite further lawlessness, increased crime, and potential disease. These problems won’t simply stay in Muskegon County because lawlessness, crime, and disease spread, thereby further eroding our society, state, and nation.

Many decry common sense and the need for laws when it comes to immigration, often citing the plaque on the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty—“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free…”—as though no boundaries should accompany this invitation.

They don’t realize that 17 years earlier, at the unveiling of “Lady Liberty” in 1886, the Honorable Chauncey M. Depew closed his speech with these words:

"There is room and brotherhood for all who will support our institutions and aid in our development; but that those who come to disturb our peace and dethrone our laws are aliens and enemies forever."

To enter our country illegally is “to disturb our peace and dethrone our laws;” when we allow it, it’s a slap in the face to all those who have worked hard and followed the lawful process so that they might enhance our communities. Criminals detract from, not enhance, a society.

Show up today at 3:30 pm – come early for a better chance to be heard.   Support and protect lawfulness and liberty! Let them know you have respect for the legal immigrant but will not tolerate the “legalization” or acceptance of lawlessness in Muskegon!

It’s not about hating others; it’s about loving your family and those in your community, loving lawfulness, and loving liberty!
