Be the First to See!-Friday, April 5 at 1 PM or 7 PM

By: American Decency Staff

Christian’s are not guaranteed a life of comfort and ease. We’re not promised a rose garden; although we are promised that Jesus, the Rose of Sharon, will never leave us nor forsake us. We’re actually guaranteed quite the opposite, a battle, one of epic proportions. It’s not against flesh and blood; it’s a spiritual battle against spiritual beings, even though it’s fought, in part, in the physical realm.

John Bunyan’s classic allegory, Pilgrim’s Progress, draws the reader in with vivid detail and interesting characters, as he lays out the common temptations and difficulties every Christian faces in some form or another. (He wrote Pilgrim’s Progress while incarcerated for his faith in the Bedford jail.) These obstacles to overcome, life lessons to learn, and characters we meet along our way to the Celestial City are wonderfully transformed from the pages of Mr. Bunyan’s book to the screen in this newest animated rendition of Pilgrim’s Progress. Join us Friday, April 5 at 1 PM or 7 PM at our headquarters, located in Fremont at 203 E. Main St. Be one of the first to view this film, it doesn’t hit theaters until April 18; but Faith Baptist Church of Fremont is helping American Decency to bring it to you this Friday! It’s sure to enthrall young and old alike.

As a matter of fact, Movieguide.org gives it very high accolades: “THE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS is a great book, but previous attempts to turn it into a movie have been deficient. This rendition works because it does a wonderful job of creating jeopardy, characters, conflict, and the premise, which drives the story forward. The viewer wants to see the end from the moment the movie starts.

This film can be used as an evangelistic tool, as an encouragement to keep pressing on—fighting the good fight of faith, and it can be used as a nice family outing—enjoying wholesome entertainment. So invite your church, tell your neighbor, bring as many as you can with you, saved and unsaved alike. Don’t let this opportunity slip by!

Here’s a section from Bunyan’s book where Christian Battles Satan. Use your imagination to picture this battle as you read; then, plan to join us this Friday at either 1 PM or 7 PM at 203 E. Main St. in Fremont.

“Then Apollyon (Satan) espying his opportunity, began to gather up close to Christian, and wrestling with him, gave him a dreadful fall; and with that Christian’s sword flew out of his hand. Then said Apollyon, I am sure of thee now; and with that he had almost pressed him to death! So that Christian began to despair of life. But as God would have it, while Apollyon was fetching his last blow, thereby to make a full end of this good man, Christian nimbly reached out his hand for his sword, and caught it, saying, (Micah 7:8) “Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy! When I fall, I shall arise”; and with that gave him a deadly thrust, which made him give back, as one who had received his mortal wound. Christian perceiving that, made at him again saying, (Rom. 8:37, James 4:7) “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” And with that Apollyon spread forth his dragon wings, and sped him away, that Christian saw him no more.”

MovieGuide.org gives one caution for the young: “the demons are frightening and attack in surprising ways.”
