Driving down the road of time, we can still see Memorial Day in our rearview window. It saddens me that many don’t understand what it’s all about and it grieves me that the very thing those brave men and women died to protect against is being embraced by many in our nation today. It makes me feel as though they fought and died in vain.
Then, in my appreciation for them, I recognize that it wasn’t in vain. I can still write words regarding Jesus, liberty, and freedom; and you can still read them. We can still speak freely, although there are strong attempts to make our voices unheard. God in His sovereign plan has allowed each of us to be where we are right now, both in location and time. We are here for “such a time as this.”
We owe a debt of gratitude to those who have gone before us, sacrificing their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. Our nation has seen much bloodshed, much division, and the seeming death of civility, respect, and actively guarding our future. We owe it to those have given up so much—and to those who ARE giving up so much—for our benefit, to pay attention to what is going on in our government, our world, and our communities.
We must work those muscles of liberty which have become atrophied for lack of use.We owe it to our heritage, to ourselves, and to our posterity to wake up, evaluate the road we are traveling, and be ready to sacrifice our time, our comfort, our finances, and if need be, our lives to keep the precious freedom which has been bought and guaranteed for us. As President Reagan pointed out, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.”
With these things in mind, we urge you to make time to get informed about the many dangers which are attacking our nation, our freedoms, and the godly heritage that God in His sovereignty blessed us with. One way to do that is to join us for American Decency’s upcoming “What Future Will Michigan Choose?” conference.
