Throw Away the MAP!

By: American Decency Staff

Shakespeare said, “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” I wonder what adjective the English bard would use if he were talking about pedophiles rather than roses?

It’s in vogue today for liberals to change definitions and to rename what the Bible calls sin. This is done for the sake of acceptance and in hopes of normalizing that which God says is perverse, that which He says is not acceptable.

A recent Daily Caller article began this way: “Pedophiles are rebranding themselves as ‘MAPs’ or ‘Minor Attracted Persons’ in an effort to gain acceptance and be included into the LGBT community, according to several reports from LGBT news sites.

“According to Urban Dictionary, the blanket term MAP includes infantophiles (infants), pedophiles (pre-pubescent children), hebephiles (pubescent children), and ephebophiles (post-pubescent children). Some MAPs also refer to themselves as NOMAPs or ‘Non-Offending Minor Attracted Persons’.”

Regardless of what Shakespeare would say, the LGBT+ community strongly objects to letting “P” into their alphabet soup line. One “transgender” blogger put it this way:

There is no such thing as a MAP. Do not normalize or sanitize child predation by allowing them the dignity of identifying themselves as anything but a sexual threat to children. They are pedophiles. Child sex offenders. There is no pathway to acceptance by using confusing/deceiving identifiers or disarming the public perception by legitimizing their crimes.

“There is no relationship at all between pedophilia and gender identity or sexual orientation. Pedophilia is not a sexual orientation, despite how anti-LGBT activists will push this misleading narrative until it fits their agenda. It is a sickness that manipulates and abuses power over vulnerable children and young people who don’t understand what is happening and causes them long-term emotional distress and psychological damage.”

Keep in mind that even as this blogger states pedophilia is not a sexual orientation, we know that neither are the LGBT sexual orientations according to the Word of God. God, not man, decides!   It seems as if everyone is okay with their own particular brand of sin but objects to those who “go further” than they would go. We are not the standard; God is. He has spoken very clearly in Scripture as to what is acceptable and what is not.

In this attempt to normalize and take the stigma off pedophilia (I can’t even believe I just wrote that!), there are also sob stories being written for the general public as well. The Daily Caller reports:

The “MAP/NOMAP community” tries to pull at people’s heartstrings by claiming that pedophiles are misunderstood marginalized people, and that as long as their attraction to children is not acted upon —  or in some cases when they get permission from the child — that they should not be villainized.

Sites such as “The Prevention Project” claim to be aimed at helping children, posting quotes like the one below, reminiscent of testimonials of struggling gay youth, under headlines like “everyone needs support”.

“‘John’ was suicidal. He had been bullied by trolls on social media for most of his life for being different. The bullies were primarily people who claimed, based on their religious beliefs, that ‘John’ was going to hell and deserved to die. They described how they would kill him on his twitter page and people supported their hate. Desperate for help, John sought treatment for his shame, depression, and suicidality. Although he was scared to share about himself with a stranger, he felt desperate for help as he had NO desire to harm anyone, ever. Once he shared about his attraction to children, his therapist told him, ‘I don’t treat sex offenders.’”

As with the other letters of the LGBT+ agenda for social transformation, we’ve been down this road before. At one point the church stood against sin and proclaimed a message of healing and hope through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ. The church was a light that pointed to God, the Definer of marriage, sexuality, gender, right, wrong, holy, profane, indeed, everything. The church used to identify with Christ, and Him crucified; it used to expect people to identify with the cleansing work of Jesus and holiness; but today, the church (at least parts of it) believe it’s okay to identify with your sin rather than your Saviour.

Regardless your sin—heterosexual, homosexual, generic all purpose sin—there’s only one cure for the sin-sick soul, and it’s mapped out for everyone to read in the Bible. God’s Word makes it plain that the blood of Jesus is the only thing which cleanses from all sin. He also makes it clear that we must repent of our sin; it will become distasteful to us. There is a new life awaiting us in Christ; “old things have passed away. Behold, all things are become new.” This is the message Christians are to bring to a sinful world full of broken people who are longing for wholeness.

We aren’t surprised by the depravity of man; nor are we surprised by the holiness of God. However, we are surprised by and can’t understand the depths of either. We will all one day stand before a holy and sovereign God, so let us tremble at the coming judgment, and be grateful for His tremendous grace. To this end let us commit ourselves to living out I Peter 3:13-16. “Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

Do You Care About Your Future?

That’s both an important question and the name of our Friday, July 20 conference, starting at 7 PM at the Prince Conference Center (1800 East Beltline SE Grand Rapids, MI 49546). Many in West Michigan think that succumbing to Shariah could never happen here.

Listen to DHS founding officer Phil Haney describe the potential path that’s being unleashed in and throughout Michigan that would lead to a lack of resistance from Christians, the church, law enforcement, city officials, our schools, and our governor.

Also listen to ex-Muslim, Farrah Prudence, share about the plight of women suffering under Shariah law around the world as she discusses, "We see women in Iran taking off their burkas and hijabs risking their lives as they do so.  What would cause women to take such public stances knowing their health and welfare is on the line for their bold actions?"
