By: American Decency Staff

If you live in Michigan or a handful of other states, you, your family friends, and neighbors are up against a deadline! One week from today (10/2) is the last day that people in this state can register to vote. That’s right, anyone who isn’t registered on or before Tuesday, October 9, 2018, will be ineligible to do their God-given civic duty to participate in the midterm elections this coming November.

Samuel Adams wisely reminds us to “Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual-or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country.”

With the recent abuse of powerand the blatant hypocrisy displayed by the Left before a watching world—not just before our country—regarding the confirmation process of SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh, all conservatives, and Christians in particular, need to register and then vote! If there are any Democrats (as Lindsey Graham-(R) SC bluntly stated) who are fed up with their party’s lack of concern for law and order, for due process, or for the vitriolic slander against men who are attempting to do their part in restoring America to her Constitutional moorings, get registered and vote! If there are any Republicans who are disgusted by the feckless representation by their party and its willingness to watch a good man’s character and his family be wrongly attacked and abused, get registered and vote! If there are any citizens who have left the two party system but look at all parties and objectively cast their vote for any constitutional candidate they can get behind, get registered and vote! If there are any who aren’t sure they want to participate in the political process or not, get registered by Tuesday, October 9, 2018 just to keep their options open. If they aren’t registered by then, they will NOT be able to vote even if they want to.  To register to vote, go to your local Secretary of State office.

If, for whatever reason, you’re unsure about the importance of voting or you have decided that Christians shouldn’t vote, take 1 minute and 45 seconds to watch this video entitled Why Vote?

Parents and grandparents, urge your eligible children and grandchildren to get registered. Make it a special memory by combining it with dinner or some other enjoyable event. Take time to learn about the candidates together or at least inform your family and friends about these men and women who want to rule your state. Look at each candidate in at least two areas. 1) What do they claim to represent and what have they done? 2) Look to the logical conclusion of the road that they want to take us down. According to history and to common sense, will it end well?

This is not a matter of who the POTUS is; this midterm election—in and of itself—is neither to support President Trump nor to vote showing one’s disdain for him. It’s important that we vote according to constitutional and Biblical values. “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” (Prov. 29:2)

On the other hand, this vote will affect the ability of this president to be able to do his job. America has made some good strides at rolling back the waves of communism/Islamism and the liberalism which had done tremendous damage during the previous administrations. If the Democrats are given back the majority in these midterms it will bring about devastating consequences for us and our children, not just to President Trump. These are just a few of the reasons we need to be involved in the political process.

Voting is a privilege and a responsibility; but it’s much more than that. It is our God-given civic duty! Americans must reclaim and renew our understanding of the absolute duty and precious necessity of voting, and of getting others to do so as well.

Get registered to vote by Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Get informed about the candidates—the ChristianVoterGuide.comis a good place to start. Here is the 2018 Michigan Candidate Listing. If you have other questions or would like to see a sample ballot for Michigan’s 2018 midterm elections click here.

I urge you to urge others to register, pray, be informed, and vote. Franklin Graham said it well, “We’ve got to pray, take a stand, and vote or we’re going to lose this country.
