Imagine Hope

By: American Decency Staff

The movie I Can Only Imagine follows the life of Bart Millard, MercyMe’s lead singer and writer of their hit song by the same title. It’s a story of hurt, pain, loss, and regret…and hope! In many ways it mirrors life events of all who might watch it. After all, who hasn’t experienced loss, pain, hurt, and/or regret in their life? Who doesn’t need hope to get them through? That’s the wonderful thing about this movie, it holds out hope to each one of us whose life hasn’t gone the way we would desire or where sin has brought hurt into our life unexpectedly. As with Bart, it needn’t be our own sin which brings such destruction or pain to our life. What we do with that hurt, though, will determine if we add our own sin and complications to the problem, or if we embrace that hope which is readily available to see us through. That is the Blessed Hope—Jesus Christ, the Redeemer.

This Friday, September 28, American Decency will be showing this inspirational film (I Can Only Imagine) at both 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Come; join us at 203 E. Main St. in Fremont for a time of learning together about forgiveness and hope.

The devil likes to sell God’s people (and others) a pack of lies that’ll keep us down and stop us from moving forward; after all, he is known as the deceiver and the accuser. Those in our communities, both within the church and without, face certain struggles and unknown fears; we all need hope. Can you imagine the help our friends, families, and community members could get if they would focus on The Hope (Jesus) instead of the lies of the devil? This movie might help move us in that direction.

Focusing on the sovereignty of God and recognizing how hurt and struggles were overcome in this movie based on real life circumstances, can you imagine the hope that might inspire?

·         If it wasn’t too late for him, maybe it’s not too late for me!

·         If he could overcome that, maybe I could overcome my past too!

·         If they could find purpose in their pain, maybe God has a purpose for mine as well!

(The above statements were taken from the I Can only Imagine movie event guide)

Join us in praying for those who will be in attendance this Friday. Pray that the Holy Spirit will move upon them, guiding their minds toward forgiveness and hope, and that this film will be a catalyst for change in the lives of those who need it. Bring friends, family, and neighbors—Christian and non-Christian alike—expecting good things and enjoying good conversation and fellowship afterward.
