Imagine Forgiveness

JOIN US on September 28, 2018 at either 1 PM or 7 PM at the American Decency building in Fremont, Michigan (203 E. Main St.) for the movie I Can Only Imagine.

It’s difficult to recognize that all the sins we have committed have been committed against a most holy, righteous, and sinless God. Our sins have certainly hurt others; but they are primarily committed against God, our Creator. Perhaps even harder to recognize is that when someone has sinned against us, truly it is against God which they have done wrong.

Once we realize our sin, it’s hard to imagine how God could possibly forgive the depths of our transgression. Have you ever heard the song How Deep The Father’s Love For Us? The lyrics well describe the work of Jesus Christ on the cross being our atonement and forgiveness. It speaks of how we don’t deserve it; yet Jesus obediently gave Himself for us.

As hard as it is to imagine that, sometimes in our humanness, it’s still much harder to forgive others for how they have sinned against or wronged us. Nonetheless, God requires us to forgive, even as we have been forgiven.

That’s one reason why I strongly encourage you to join us at 203 E. Main Street on September 28. Bring family and friends with you to watch I Can Only Imagine at either 1 PM or 7 PM.

This well-crafted film, which is based on the songwriter’s real life, is a story of forgiveness. It’s a film that depicts both God’s forgiving our sin against Him and of a young man granting forgiveness to his father who has been both physically and emotionally abusive. It’s a beautiful expression of Paul’s command found in Ephesians 4:32. “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.”

Don’t miss this opportunity to share with your children and others the gospel of forgiveness and the responsibility to love and forgive.
