Bread and Circuses

Bread and circuses, that’s what we are experiencing with the Justice Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings—Bread and circuses! (I apologize for insulting the circus!) For those who may not be familiar with the term “Bread and circuses” (or “Bread and games”), Wikipedia describes it thusly: “In a political context, the phrase means to generate public approval, not by excellence in public service or public policy, but by diversion, distraction or by satisfying the most immediate or base requirements of a populace— by offering a palliative: for example food (bread) or entertainment (circuses).”

Actually, “Bread and Circuses” is the title of the Democrat’s playbook; and it makes little to no difference if one is talking about their policies or their attacks on political opponents—so called. I say “so called” because Brett Kavanaugh is not really an opponent; as a Supreme Court Justice nominee he is not supposed to be partisan, only constitutional, abiding by the rule of law. However, seeing as many in the political sphere are attacking and/or ignoring the Constitution of the United States of America—particularly from the Democrat Party—a Constitutional Supreme Court nominee like Justice Kavanaugh might be viewed as an opponent, sadly to say. This only because the Constitution is conservative in nature; it is a set of laws which were put in place to conserve our nation’s founding principles of self-governance and guaranteeing the innate freedoms and rights given to us by nature’s God. Today’s Democrats are not Democrats; they are communists and Islamists in disguise. This is why they fight against the Constitution, our Constitutional Republic, and those who would faithfully uphold our guiding principles and the Law which protects them.  

According to the Newcastle Herald (Australia), “bread and circuses” “implies a population's erosion or ignorance of civic duty as a priority.” This must be true; what other reason can one offer for what is being allowed in the Senate and in the Deep State’s propaganda arm, given the misnomer journalistic media? If the alleged crimes took place, then they should be handled in a court of law instead of a Senate hearing or even in the propagandized media-driven streets. The question that is supposed to be answered is “Will Justice Kavanaugh uphold the Constitution and rule by its tenets instead of creating law or ruling by his own feelings or personal beliefs.” This is done by looking at his past rulings and his answers to a set of questions given by senators to see if he is worthy of confirmation to the highest ruling body in this nation. There are several who have said they will vote against Justice Kavanaugh regardless the outcome of this period of questioning; ironically, they don’t care about justice—they only care about politics!

Many years ago, Justice Clarence Thomas underwent the same type of false allegations; but he would neither give in nor give up. He said then—and we should say now—“This is a circus. This is a national disgrace…and it should never happen in America.”

No, this should NEVER happen in America! We have something called due process and the idea that a person is innocent UNTIL proven guilty. I’m sure that Justice Kavanaugh expected to be put in the spotlight as he stepped into these confirmation hearings; but no one should have to expect to step in to the laser sites of a political AK-47 for wanting to do his duty in upholding the law of the land.  No accusations have come up before this time; now there are numerous people popping out of the woodwork—some accusing and others debunking these hard to believe allegations. Yet character assassination, selective outrage, and hypocrisy to the nth degree are the Democrat ploys of today.

In an attempt to be fair to an alleged victim, they have been unfair to a man with a long-held stellar character. In allowing this to go so long in the media and public eye, it has influenced the outcome. What Senator is going to support a candidate that the media and constituents have already declared guilty, even without proof.

It’s not about right; it’s about the right to kill the unborn! It’s not about the people of the United States; it’s about politics! It’s not about truth; it’s about supporting false narratives to advance an agenda. Every time I turn around I see a deeper and more desperate need to pray. Our nation is being destroyed and “we the people” are losing our rights at an alarming rate. How long before the desperate and despicable attacks of the Left completely destroy the “deplorable” “dregs” of the Right? What you are watching happen to a man of stalwart character will one day be the norm for any conservative if we allow it to continue. If Republican leadership continue to either attack, undermine, or be apathetic to those who are in authority or step out on those who are stepping up, what do you think they will do to their base when “it no longer matters.”

May God grant to us and our leaders discernment, truth, and a holy boldness to stand for what is right. Regardless of “bread and circuses,” let us look to the Bread of Life and focus on Truth instead of getting caught up in and distracted by the Left’s duplicitous demagoguery.
