Second Amendment Sabotage

By: American Decency Staff

There are some who patriotically swell with Charlton Heston’s take on the Second Amendment…

If you want to feel the warm breath of freedom on your neck… If you want to touch the pulse of liberty that beat in our founding fathers, you may do so through the majesty of the Second Amendment.

Because there, in that wooden stock and blued steel, there lies what give the most common of men the most uncommon of freedoms. When ordinary hands are free to own this extraordinary symbol, representing the full measure of human dignity and liberty, that is as good as you can have it.

It doesn't matter whether its purpose is to defend our shores or your front door, whether it is a rite of passage for a young man, or a tool of survival for a young woman, whether it brings meat for the table or trophies for the shel,. without respect to age, or gender, or race, or class, the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms connects us all — with all that is right.

And to those who say the Second Amendment doesn't mean what we say it means, let's settle that right now. The purpose of every line of the Bill of Rights was to protect the people from the state. Our founders refused to ratify a Constitution that didn't protect individual liberties. They were just a bunch of old, dead white guys, but they invented this country, and they meant what they said. The Second Amendment isn't about the National Guard or the police or any other government entity. It is about law-abiding, private, U.S., citizens. Period.” (at the 125th Annual NRA Members Banquet; 1996)

(Exhilarating; isn’t it!)

Others within our nation trust in their government so completely that they would echo these thoughts on the Second Amendment:

The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing.”

That’s Adolph Hitler, by the way.(Chilling; isn’t it!)

Admittedly, most will find themselves somewhere in between these two polar ends.

If we are honest with ourselves, we know that even judges will have their own personal views on the Constitution and its Bill of Rights, including the Second Amendment. However, their black robes should cover their personal feelings; as judges they are to RULE BY THE LAW, not revise or make new law.

What does the Second Amendment say; is it so hard to understand?

No; it’s short, sweet, and to the point. It is an inalienable right which guarantees the protection of our other rights. Its intention is the God-given right to protect oneself, one’s family and land, and the nation in which we live. It’s a way for Americans to protect themselves from enemies both foreign and domestic and from a government that has become tyrannical and out of control. Our founding fathers were looking out for our best interest, remembering the overreaching English government they had just broken away from.

This Amendment simply reads: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

And yet, our government—and its courts—keep attempting to limit and change our Second Amendment rights. Most recently, the “Fourth Circuit Sets the Stage for a New National Gun Ban.” (Which is also the title of an American Thinker article that can be read here.)

To summarize this attack on our Second Amendment, we look to Clinton appointee Judge Robert King: “Put simply, we have no power to extend Second Amendment protections to weapons of war.

How odd that the Second Amendment isn’t meant to protect “weapons of war.” Our founding fathers, prior to writing this, had just won the War of Independence with the “weapons of war,” of their day.  How odd that those “weapons of war” were the very same weapons which one would expect to find in “a well regulated militia.” How odd that Judge King would expect “the security of a free state” to be kept by water pistols, pea shooters, and BB guns.

Another Democrat appointee, Judge William Traxler, clearly spelled out the consequences of this decision in his dissent:

Today the majority holds that the Government can take semi automatic rifles away from law-abiding American citizens. In South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland, the Government can now tell you that you cannot hunt with these rifles. The Government can tell you that you cannot shoot at targets with them. And, most importantly, the Government can tell you that you cannot use them to defend yourself and your family in your home. In concluding that the Second Amendment does not even apply, the majority has gone to greater lengths than any other court to eviscerate the constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear arms.(reported by Conservative Review)

Whether one likes guns or doesn’t like guns; whether one is a judge or an everyday citizen; our Constitution protects our right to bear arms. When someone dons a black robe and attempts to legislate away that which has been previously protected by our Constitution, it’s an abuse of their power. It’s overstepping their boundaries, arrogantly treading upon you and me. While these courts are allowed to come into our homes and tie our hands from protecting our spouses and children; while they keep us from bearing arms that are useable in a confrontation against those who are enemies from within or without; they are literally taking steps to support the destruction of our families and our nation. (Read more about these overreaches and what we can do to stop them; click here)

Mandating the acceptance of immigrants from countries of known terrorist activities + the disarming of American citizenry = disaster for the American people, disaster for peace, and disaster for freedom.

Pray that our nation will bow its knee to God and for our government to come back under Constitutional control. Pray that we will once again allow the wisdom of God to rule over us instead of walking in our own way and our own “wisdom.”

In closing, I give you Reagan’s common-sense thinking on gun control (even after being shot!):

You won’t get gun control by disarming law-abiding citizens. There’s only one way to get real gun control: Disarm the thugs and the criminals, lock them up and if you don’t actually throw away the key, at least lose it for a long time… It’s a nasty truth, but those who seek to inflict harm are not fazed by gun controllers. I happen to know this from personal experience.”

Trevor Loudon, Producer of "The Enemies Within"

Most people assume that communism is a thing of the past; it either broke down with the Berlin Wall or fell with Russia. That’s just not the case, and there’s no more dangerous an enemy than one who is believed to be defeated or no longer a threat. Communism is very much alive and well in the thoughts of a great number of Americans, both common and influential. Unfortunately they don’t look at the realistic outcomes of this devastating ideology and the countries that it has destroyed. Trevor Loudon does. If you care about this country or just desire to be informed, this event is for you. Whether you’ve seen the film “Enemies Within” or not, don’t miss out on this opportunity to hear Trevor Loudon speak and to ask him questions about these important issues.
