Privilege to spoil – America?

By: American Decency Staff

I was just talking with a person in Christian ministry who had moved from out-of-state asking “Where is the Christian conservatism in Western Michigan?”   This person stated “I’m still looking for evidences.”

Sadly, I largely agree.  I’m talking about city areas as Grand Rapids, Holland particularly and communities between them.

I shared my insight on it.  Due to time limitations I will be brief.   I know all too well what this individual is talking about.  One of the indications too is the little sense of Christian “push back” against the “Interfaith Dialogue movement” that is increasingly having its way out of various institutions (with an agenda) in West Michigan.  (including Calvin College)

“What?”  I hope you are asking.

We have had such immense blessing in our beloved America and in West Michigan.  But, what are we doing with that?  Are we just going to continue to sleep away and doze off and let the Islamists and the Interfaith Dialogue “friends” accommodate the unsuspecting and the children and grandchildren you send off to your local “Christian” college and lull you into warm fuzziness thinking that all is well?

Read this relevant and what should be contentious article from the Grand Rapids Press from Thursday, September 29, 2016.

Where is guarding the precious Gospel?  Where is upholding the exclusivity of Jesus Christ?  “He is the way, the truth and the life.  No man comes to the Father but through Him?”  [John 14:6]

Here’s a little piece from J.C. Ryle “From All Four Gospels”:  Read it and recognize he was writing this back in his once Christian England back in the nineteenth century:

The fruit that the Lord receives from His vineyard in Great Britain (Editor’s note: now put in your America],compared with what it ought to be, is disgracefully small.  … We see, in the next place, what an dreadful reckoning God sometimes has with nations and churches, which make a bad use of their privileges.

A time came when the patience of God towards the Jews had an end. Forty years after our Lord's death, the cup of their iniquity was at length full, and they received a heavy chastisement for their many sins. Their holy city, Jerusalem, was destroyed. Their temple was burned. They themselves were scattered over the face of the earth. "The kingdom of God was taken from them, and given to a nation bringing forth its fruits."

And will the same thing ever happen to us? Will the judgments of God ever come down on this nation of England (Editor’s note: think America),because of her unfruitfulness under so many mercies? Who can tell? We may well cry with the prophet, "Lord God, you alone know." We only know that judgments have come on many a church and nation in the last 1800 years. The kingdom of God has been taken from the African and Eastern  churches. They are run over by Islam and destroyed.   At all events it becomes all believers to intercede much on behalf of our country. Nothing offends God so much as neglect of privileges. Much has been given to us, and much will be required.

We see, in the last place, the power of conscience even in wicked men. The chief priests and elders at last discovered that our Lord's parable was specially meant for themselves. The point of its closing words was too sharp to be escaped.

"They knew that he spoke about them."

There are many hearers of the Gospel in every congregation, who are exactly in the condition of these unhappy men. They know that what they hear Sunday after Sunday is all true. They know that they are wrong themselves, and that every sermon condemns them. But they have neither will nor courage to acknowledge this. They are too proud and too fond of the world to confess their past mistakes, and to take up the cross and follow Christ. Let us all beware of this dreadful state of mind. The last day will prove that there was more going on in the consciences of hearers than was at all known to preachers. Thousands and ten thousands will be found, like the chief priests, to have been convicted by their own conscience, and yet to have died unconverted.
Matthew chapter 21:33-46.

Here’s a heads up for you that are reading with conscience and rightful alarm and concern.  You should hear more and learn more.  It is vital.  Privileged as you and I are why wouldn’t we put ourselves under some solid teaching, exhortation and encouragement in the Lord!

We have written and told you about our efforts to bring truth tellers to you at our “The War is Real and the War is Now.”   Grand Rapids area sleepy?  Only 40 have registered thus far at the Prince Conference Center on the Calvin Campus.  130 have registered for Fremont.  Hmmm.   Time to wake up my Grand Rapids area friends!   Before it’s too late.  Reserve your spot Christian friend and get others out.  The War is Real and the War is NowBelieve it for it is true.
