Oh to be young again or not …

By: American Decency Staff

Yesterday as our mailing team came together (faithful long term volunteers) we discussed the downward trend of our nation on numerous fronts.

In this portion of our mailing team, we were aged 69 (myself) up to a few in their late 80s.  Wonderful, sharp, loving people – astute with years of history and perspective, we were lamenting what appears to be the decline of constitutional America; freedom loving America, which sadly has been living off from borrowed capital (our Founding Fathers and others who came before us who labored to uphold the Constitution in the courts, in the legislature and in their time as President – though few in number they may be).

I know that my passion and the burdens of my heart are not much hidden in these days.  In my discussion with these dear friends, it is obvious I am not alone. Clearly there are numbers of us who are concerned more than ever before – and in some cases  – concerned to tears.  (a good thing)

I told my staff today that within the last year I shifted into another gear.  I explained it something like this:   I’m more focused on the daily demise of our society than ever before.  My heart is heavy for the lawlessness perpetuated by the leadership of this country from the Presidency, to the Congress to the Supreme Court and lower courts.   It is also made heavy by how people have voted into office, in some cases (many cases) ruthless, wicked, self-serving politicians and then put them back into office again and in some cases – again and again.

Those of us who are older have more history behind us.    Some of us have experienced many more trials due to longevity (loss of parents, grandparents, roadblocks, injustices, health issues, consequences of sin) in our lives than those around us including friends, family, our own offspring, etc.

Life is sobering to many of us.  Is that a bad thing?  No. The Bible tells us that this is a good thing:

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.
1 Peter 5:8-9

We are being devoured, though many are totally oblivious – TOTALLY.  So many don’t have a clue.

The elderly– at least some like my friends mentioned above – see the acceleration in attack upon the Christian baker, florist, Christian college, voter, citizen, gun owner, etc..  We see the demise of the courts at all levels.  We see the DOJ (Department of Justice) under Attorney General Loretta Lynch and previous leadership undermine the law instead of uphold it.  We see FBI director Comey giving Hillary Clinton the pass even though she was found guilty of compromising American security at the highest levels of security.

“Evil men and seducers waxing worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.”  (2 Timothy 3:13)

Oh to be young again ….

No.  This is a time to be praying for those who come after us and  (by God’s grace)  to help them see beyond the la la land of fun, laughter, video and cell phone games.  Or to see even beyond their big high powered careers (and there are still some that have such a thing) that also are sinking sand when that day – that Final Day comes.

But as for you and me, may we continue in what we have learned and firmly believe
