International Holocaust Remembrance Day

By: American Decency Staff

Most of us are familiar with Herod’s holocaust, as he called for the destruction of all children two years old and younger in an attempt to destroy the Messiah, Jesus.  I’m surprised to learn that there are those who know little to nothing of the holocaust which took place in modern history; they neither know who Hitler is nor do they have any idea of what he’s done.

Regardless the ignorance of many, International Holocaust Remembrance Day will be marked around the globe today, Wednesday, January 27, 2016, in memory of the six million Jews who died at the hands of Nazi Germany and its allies.

Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, made statements regarding this day in a speech recognizing the rising tide of anti-Semitism in Europe and around the world. He stated well that this heightened sense of hatred is not only against the Jewish people, but also against the Jewish state. To hear his comments, click here

In April, last year, USA Today reported, “The number of violent anti-Semitic attacks around the world surged nearly 40% last year, according to a report released Wednesday by researchers at Tel Aviv University in Israel.” We see anti-Semitism increasing on college and university campuses as well as among the general populace. It’s irrational and without cause; nevertheless, it’s increasing daily.

Israel has been and continues to be America’s only true, reliable ally.  In light of our current administration’s actions toward Israel and its leaders, this is amazing.  Did you know that Israel is the only place to have a memorial, outside New York City, that recognizes the names of every victim of the 9-11 attack?

From the beginning of the Bible, throughout the Biblical record, and down into contemporary history, we’ve seen Satan focus his sights more narrowly on those whom God plans to show Himself through.  However, God is sovereign and His plan will ultimately prevail.  Nevertheless, Satan is stirring the pot, raising irrational, anti-Semitic feelings here in America and around the globe today.

Pray for Israel and remember the grief her people have suffered at the hands of men.  Remember that God is still in control.
