An evening in Muskegon, MI and a look ahead

By: American Decency Staff

Last night I had the joy of speaking in Muskegon at Central Assembly (in a non-church related event) to a group of concerned citizens from the greater Muskegon, Michigan area.

What a joy it was to have kindred spirits prayerfully concerned for their country, their government, families and churches!

They were concerned about things like integrity, personal purity, faithfulness, Israel, the unborn, justice, honesty, the least of these, homosexuality, the sanctity of marriage (God’s plan for marriage from the beginning).

The group leader, Ann, though not endorsing any candidate (in the least) nonetheless had information available on a wide variety of the candidates seeking election. She and others called for prayer for those presently leading us.

The importance of prayer was lifted up.  Concern for vetting those who desired to come into our country was briefly discussed as accorded in our Constitution.

We discussed the beauty, significance and blessing of the Bill of Rights, i.e.  the Freedom of Religion, of expression, the right to bear arms.

When we discussed the right to bear arms, it was imbedded in the context of not  targeting another person, rather  upon defending – defending one’s loved ones; family; one’s property against tyranny, robbers, sexual predators, etc.

Did I sense that there were any bigots there?  Any racially biased?  Any homophobes?  Any Islamophobes?   Any haters?  Hardly.

Not a one.  I could see, though, that there were people who desired that peace would reign in their households, neighborhoods, communities, state, union and the world.

I also saw that these people were sorrowful for the sin that besets us all.  They prayed together II Chronicles 7:14.

if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

The presence of the Lord was evident!   I couldn’t help but think how wonderful it is to have such times as last night.   I think it is safe to say that people came away lifted up and encouraged despite the fact that sad facts and realities were discussed as we discussed some of the concerning matters that face us all.

I hope that as you are able you will give join us for our fast approaching annual conference scheduled for July 22 in Grand Rapids at the Harvest Orthodox Presbyterian Church.

From the Bottom Up: ADAs Annual Summer Conference

This year, we’re excited to hand the microphone to a Michigander: pastor, author, seminary president, professor, Dr. Joel Beeke. Dr. Beeke is a well known theologian and sought after speaker. He’s the author of over 80 books. Our second speaker may be familiar to you if you are one of the millions of concerned Americans who has seen the movie, “Agenda: Grinding America Down” or “Agenda 2: Masters of Deceit. If so, you’ve doubtless been impressed by the careful research and methodical explanations by Curtis Bowers, as he explores the influence that communism has had on our political and social institutions. Mark your calendar and plan to be with us on Friday, July 22 from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at the Harvest OPC church in Wyoming, Michigan (near Grand Rapids) to hear powerful messages from these two men of God.
