The Resurrection on Trial

By: American Decency Staff

When planning your schedule for next week, you’ll want to make time to go and watch/participate in the Resurrection on Trial.  This is an exciting drama that will be presented at the Jenison Center for the Arts on March 5-7, 2015.

Easter is just around the corner; it’ll be here before you know it.  There are many who are more skeptical about the resurrection of Jesus Christ than the existence of the Easter Bunny.  After all, if the resurrection is not treated with skepticism or deniability then there can be no question of the divinity of Jesus Christ; you cannot deny that He is the very Son of God.

The resurrection of Jesus is the defining moment of Christianity.  Jesus – the very Son of God- came to earth, died for our sins, was buried, and on the third day rose from the dead, all according to Scripture.  If Jesus Christ had not risen from the dead, we would have no hope.  The Apostle Paul spends the whole of 1 Corinthians chapter 15 on this very fact.  “And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.  We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised.” (1 Cor. 15:14-15)

The Resurrection on Trial is a dramatic presentation that brings eight Biblical/historical figures from the New Testament era to a courtroom, that their personal testimonies may be examined and given an honest review by the audience.  This forum, elsewhere, has given an excellent challenge to the thinking public.  The audience is the jury and will receive a jury ballot, so that every individual may decide the veracity or the fallacy of the resurrection for themselves.

Come and listen to these eight testimonies, hear the two attorneys, see the one judge, and weigh the two choices.  You must decide for yourself; did Jesus Christ really rise from the grave or was it just an elaborate ruse?

The Apostle Paul, a scholar of the Scriptures and having firsthand experience with Christ and Christianity, weighed the truth and decided for himself:  “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.  Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.   If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.  But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.  For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead.  For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.” (1 Cor. 15:17-22)

You’ll certainly want to attend the most important trial of all time. Also, you won’t want to miss out on this great opportunity to bring your friends and family, to invite the skeptic or the unsure.  Use this as a tool to witness to others.  To watch a short video about this drama, click here
