Men in Black

By: American Decency Staff

Don’t put your trust in man.

That was a lesson hammered home once again when a small group of individuals (five court justices) made a decision that is outside their domain of authority (man’s law above God’s) that will turn this culture upside down spiritually and morally.

Judges, after all, including Supreme Court Judges, are mere men and women.

Mark Levin writing in his book “Men in Black” wrote in 2005:  “The biggest myth about judges is that they’re somehow imbued with greater insight, wisdom, and vision than the rest of us; that for some reason God Almighty has endowed them with superior judgment about justice and fairness.  But the truth is that judges are men and women with human imperfections and frailties. Some have been brilliant, principled, and moral.  Others have been mentally impaired, venal, and racist.

Without playing the name game and pointing a finger at an individual or two or more, I will merely say that God in His Word tells us in Psalm 118:8 and Isaiah 2:22:  Don’t put your trust in man.

This is what the LORD says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the LORD.  Jeremiah 17:5

Re-quoting Levin from above regarding the nature of judges.  “Some have been brilliant, principled, and moral.  …

And some not so principled and moral.   Take for example Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg performing a same-sex marriage less than 40 days before the Supreme Court delivered its decision regarding same-sex marriage and yet did not recuse herself due to her overt personal bias.

Here, in part, is how the New York Timesreported the account:

But the most glittering moment for the crowd came during the ceremony. With a sly look and special emphasis on the word “Constitution,” Justice Ginsburg said that she was pronouncing the two men married by the powers vested in her by the Constitution of the United States.

No one was sure if she was emphasizing her own beliefs or giving a hint to the outcome of the case the Supreme Court is considering whether to decide if same-sex marriage is constitutional.

But the guests began applauding loudly, delighted either way. Justice Ginsburg, who has officiated at same-sex weddings in the past, also seemed delighted, either by their reaction or, perhaps, by the news that she will be played in a movie by Natalie Portman (who, in a strange casting segue, will play Jackie Kennedy Onassis in another film)…..

Quoting Levin:

Judicial activists are nothing short of radicals in robes – contemptuous of the rule of law, subverting the Constitution at will, and using their public trust to impose their policy preferences on society.  In fact, no radical political movement has been more effective in undermining our system of government than the judiciary.  And with each Supreme Court term, we hold our collective breath hoping the justices will do no further damage, knowing full well they will disappoint.  Such is the nature of judicial tyranny.

Dear friend:  This kind of unprincipled and immoral behavior is degrading our nation. Our country will be hardly recognizable in a few short years.

Radical talk?  I don’t think so – not at all.  I could count the ways but I’ll save that for another article.

How to counter this?  That is a huge question.

I’m not a lawyer.  But, I am a Christian dad, a Christian grandfather.  I can do what I do and try to do it better than ever.  That is I can LABOR.  In fact, I must labor for much is at stake – now and eternally.

Taking some words from J.C. Ryle who wrote:

Christ tells us to “labour” for the meat that endureth to everlasting life’.  He would have us take pains to find food and satisfaction for our souls.  That food is provided in rich abundance in him.  But he that would have it must diligently seek it.

How are we to labor? There is but one answer. We must labor in the use of all appointed means. We must read our Bibles like men digging for hidden treasure. We must wrestle honestly in prayer like men contending with a deadly enemy for life. We must take our whole heart to the house of God and worship and hear like those who listen to the reading of a will. We must fight daily against sin, the world and the devil like those who fight for liberty and must conquer or be slaves. These are the ways we must walk in if we would find Christ and be found of him. This is ‘laboring’. This is the secret of getting on about our souls.

A look ahead.

We have high expectations for our annual conference coming up on July 31 at the Sunshine Community Church in Grand Rapids.  We again have strong presenters for our event.

The times are so concerning regarding the assault upon Biblical marriage and sexuality (the legitimization of transgenderism, homosexuality, etc.).  What will be the impact upon religious liberty?  What will be the implications for churches, Christian schools, businesses and us as individually?  Janet (Folger) Porter has been on the front lines of the cultural battle for years and will have great incite to share.

And while the assault upon religious freedom grows within our nation, so does the assault from without – ISIS, the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Hezbollah, etc. Our presenter on this subject is Stephen C. Coughin. Coughlin earned recognition as the Pentagon’s leading expert on the Islamic-based doctrines motivating Jihadi groups that confront America.

Beginning in 2011, the Muslim Brotherhood convinced the White House to ban Coughlin and put an end to his briefings. The move was in keeping with the Shariah concepts of slander that seek to blindfold America to certain realities that render us defenseless against a threat made existential by the very ignorance it gets out leaders to enforce.

The times are serious. Many still are in the dark regarding Shariah and the enemy behind jihad and civilization jihad. Coughlin delivers his message with grace, truth and bold honesty.   Video
